The ideal candidates will reside in the Birmingham, AL area. Responsibilities
- Participate in security status meetings and provide reports to Security Managers
- Work with Security Architects to develop and implement security solutions
- Monitor security systems and analyze security events, logs, and alerts
- Assist in vulnerability assessments and penetration testing activities
- Document security incidents, findings, and remediation procedures
- Work with IT teams to deploy security controls and monitor system configurations
- Support security compliance initiatives and audit processes
- Investigate potential security incidents and escalate threats appropriately Qualifications
- Working on a BS or BA degree in Cybersecurity, Information Security, Computer Science, or related field
- Working knowledge of networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, DNS, firewalls, VPNs)
- Working knowledge of security tools (SIEM, IDS/IPS, vulnerability scanners)
- Familiarity with security frameworks (NIST, CIS Controls, OWASP) a plus
- Basic understanding of Linux and Windows system security
- Familiarity with common attack vectors and defensive security practices
- High-level understanding of security lifecycle and incident response
- Ability to work within a team
- Excellent communication skills (both verbal and written)
- Must be self-motivated and know when to seek guidance
- Individual must be a self-starter and capable of working independently as well as part of a team
- Capable of learning new security tools and technologies
- Ability to provide strong problem-solving skills using a variety of analytical methods
