PRIMARY FUNCTION
This position serves as the principal leader for the district's cybersecurity operations, reporting directly to the Executive Director of Information and Cyber Security. The position is responsible for the strategic and operational management of all cybersecurity personnel, including Cyber Defense Engineers, Information Security Analysts, and other cyber-focused roles within the division. The Manager provides vision, direction, and oversight for the district's cyber defense initiatives, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and regulatory requirements.

REQUIREMENTS:
Educational Level:
Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Cyber Security, Computer Science, or related field from an accredited institution.
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
Five (5) years of experience in information security or cyber security management.
Preferred:
Advanced degree (Master's or higher) and industry certifications such as CISSP, CISM, or equivalent. Experience with security operations center (SOC) practices, threat intelligence, and compliance reporting.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
Knowledge of risk management processes, cyber threats, vulnerabilities, and incident response methodologies. Experience with security frameworks (e.g., NIST, CIS Controls). Familiarity with security system design, authentication, authorization, and access control methods.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Leads and manages the cybersecurity team, overseeing incident response processes and holding authority to direct districtwide actions during cybersecurity events. Establishes, tracks, and reports critical cybersecurity performance metrics and risk indicators for leadership evaluation. Partners with technology and instructional leaders to integrate cybersecurity practices into system architecture, safeguard student data privacy, and align with district technology strategies. Oversee incident response planning and execution, including leading the Cybersecurity Incident Response Team (CIRT). Ensure compliance with federal, state, and district regulations. Coordinate with IT, HR, and legal departments on security matters. Prepare reports for senior leadership on security posture and incidents. Set clear goals and expectations for team members, aligning individual objectives with the district's security strategy. Provide ongoing coaching, mentorship, and professional development opportunities to build technical and leadership capabilities. Overseeing daily operations, including incident response, threat monitoring, vulnerability management, and compliance activities.

WORK ENVIRONMENT
Employees in this classification are normally exposed to a typical office environment. The employee has some control over the length of time sitting, standing, or ambulating. There are occasions that require the lifting or pulling of equipment or supplies, as well as bending, stooping, or stretching. There is frequent use of computers, telephones, and other standard office equipment, which includes reading, listening, writing, or speaking. There are few exceptional physical or sensory demands.
