This is an on-site leadership opportunity for an IT professional who enjoys combining people leadership, hands-on technical work, cybersecurity, and operational improvement. The IT Operations & Cybersecurity Manager will be responsible for the reliable, secure, and cost-effective delivery of day-to-day technology services across multiple locations. Reporting to the Director of Information Technology, this position will lead the IT service desk function while also playing a key role in cybersecurity operations, end-user technology, vendor management, asset management, and IT service improvement. This is a working-manager position suited for someone who can lead a team while remaining technically engaged and comfortable stepping in to troubleshoot, resolve issues, and support critical IT initiatives. Key Responsibilities IT Service & End-User Operations Lead and manage the IT Service Desk and associated personnel, ensuring responsive, high-quality customer service and achievement of service-level expectations. Oversee the availability, security, and operational health of end-user hardware, software, and technology services. Manage escalations involving complex or high-priority service issues and communicate effectively with business stakeholders. Establish and improve IT service management processes, documentation, workflows, and performance metrics. Drive standardization and automation initiatives that improve efficiency and reduce operational risk. Manage maintenance windows and technology changes while minimizing disruption to business operations. Maintain accurate IT hardware and software asset inventories. Cybersecurity Lead day-to-day cybersecurity operations and participate in cybersecurity incident response. Monitor and drive remediation of vulnerabilities, endpoint risks, and system misconfigurations. Coordinate patching strategies while balancing security requirements with operational and business impacts. Track approved risk acceptances and security exceptions. Help strengthen the organization's overall security posture through continuous improvement, documentation, and best practices. Support compliance-related activities and cybersecurity initiatives led by the IT department. Vendor & Technology Management Manage technology vendors and service providers, including procurement, renewals, contracts, service-level agreements, cost management, and performance evaluations. Identify opportunities for cost avoidance, improved service delivery, and technology optimization. Manage Microsoft 365 licensing, user administration, and security configurations. Assist with technology planning, implementation, and infrastructure initiatives. Leadership & Team Development Direct, coach, mentor, and develop IT team members. Establish clear priorities, work plans, timelines, and performance expectations. Conduct employee performance evaluations and create actionable development plans. Approve timekeeping and complete other managerial administrative responsibilities. Build strong relationships with employees and business stakeholders. Promote a collaborative, professional, and customer-focused IT environment. Continuous Improvement Identify opportunities to improve processes, workflows, service delivery, and technology utilization. Research emerging technologies and industry best practices and provide recommendations to IT leadership. Support complex IT projects and enterprise technology implementations. Partner with the Director of IT on departmental initiatives and strategic priorities. You should bring:
Advanced knowledge of end-user hardware, software, and technology environments. Experience leading or managing an IT Service Desk, IT operations team, or IT service management function. Strong knowledge of cybersecurity operations, vulnerability management, and incident response. Experience administering Microsoft 365, including licensing, user management, and security configuration. Demonstrated experience managing technology vendors and service providers. Experience leading, coaching, developing, and evaluating employees. Strong project management skills and experience managing complex technology initiatives. The ability to translate technical issues and recommendations into understandable business impacts. Excellent communication, organization, prioritization, and problem-solving skills. The ability to remain effective under pressure and exercise sound judgment. A strong customer-service mindset with the ability to work effectively with both technical and non-technical employees. The ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive business and technology information appropriately. Willingness to occasionally provide support outside normal business hours when necessary. Willingness to travel occasionally as business needs require.
Education & Experience Required:
Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field. At least 5 years of progressively responsible IT experience , with significant experience in areas such as IT infrastructure, network administration/engineering, server administration, endpoint administration, or IT service desk operations. At least 1 year of leadership experience , including employee coaching, performance management, and managerial responsibilities. At least 1 year of experience leading or managing enterprise technology implementations, infrastructure projects, or significant IT initiatives.
Preferred:
Cybersecurity or other relevant industry certifications. Experience working in a manufacturing environment. Familiarity with manufacturing and/or accounting systems and technologies. Experience applying continuous improvement methodologies. Experience supporting multi-site organizations. Work Environment This is a primarily on-site position within a private manufacturing environment. The role will involve approximately 80% desk/computer-based work, with occasional movement throughout manufacturing, office, and server-room environments. The position may occasionally require lifting equipment weighing up to 25 pounds, climbing stairs, wearing appropriate safety equipment, and providing after-hours support when necessary.
