Undisclosed, Security Operations Analyst The Maine Community College System (MCCS) is seeking a full-time Security Operations Analyst. The Security Operations Analyst is responsible for day-to-day monitoring, detection, investigation, and response to cybersecurity threats across the organization's environment. This role serves as a frontline defender within the Security Operations function, working closely with managed detection and response (MDR) partners and internal teams to identify, triage, and remediate security incidents. The ideal candidate has hands-on experience with modern security tooling, a solid grasp of incident response fundamentals, and a proactive mindset toward threat hunting and continuous improvement. This position will be on-site and located at one of the MCCS locations. The Security Operations Analyst position is classified within the MSEA Support Services Unit range 21. Dependent on experience and qualifications, the position expects to pay in the vicinity of $60,000. The required minimum qualifications include a bachelor's degree in information technology or related field and three years of experience in information technology or related discipline. Years of relevant training and experience may be considered in lieu of minimum education requirements on a year-for-year basis. The required knowledge, skills, and abilities include, but not limited to, the following: Experience working with Sophos MDR or a comparable managed detection and response service. Familiarity with Barracuda security products (email security, WAF, or network/backup solutions). Solid understanding of incident response procedures, including containment, eradication, and recovery phases. Demonstrated experience or strong working knowledge of threat hunting techniques and methodologies. Working knowledge of common attack techniques, malware behavior, and phishing/social engineering tactics. Familiarity with the

MITRE ATT&CK

framework. Basic understanding of networking concepts (TCP/IP, DNS, firewalls, VPNs) and Windows/Active Directory/Entra ID environments. Strong analytical, documentation, and communication skills. Ability to work effectively under pressure during active security incidents, including some after-hours/on-call availability.
