Remote Our client seeks a Data Engineer to support clinical trial data operations over a 12+ month contract. The role will program SAS edit checks and macros, build and optimize ETL/ELT pipelines, and ensure data quality across structured and unstructured sources. The position will collaborate with clinical, biostatistics, regulatory, and R& D stakeholders to support analytics and AI/ML model pipelines. Work will be remote on PST hours with a collaborative team across experience levels. Due to client requirements, applicants must be willing and able to work on a w2 basis. Rate:
$60.00 to $70.00/hr. w2
Responsibilities:
Develop study specific annotated CRFs, database documentation, edit check specifications, data handling conventions, and data entry instructions. Program SAS edit checks and SAS macros for clinical trials, including ETL processes, data validations, statistical analyses, and report generation. Design and develop robust ETL/ELT pipelines for structured and unstructured data. Apply hands-on database administration skills to identify root causes and resolve issues with structured and unstructured data sources. Conduct data automation tasks, including software development, testing, and validation. Leverage familiarity with Power BI, R, Python, HTML, JavaScript, and REST APIs for data downloading. Collaborate with biostatistics, data scientists, analysts, and stakeholders to support AI/ML model development and deployment. Build and optimize data systems for performance, scalability, and reliability while ensuring data quality, integrity, and security. Apply knowledge of the software development life cycle to code, design, and maintain documentation for data architecture, processes, and workflows. Implement and manage
REST API
connections.
Experience Requirements:
2+ years with clinical data management documentation, CRF development, EDC building, and data quality checks. 2+ years building and optimizing ETL/ELT pipelines for structured and unstructured data. 2+ years programming SAS edit checks and SAS macros for clinical trials. Experience with data automation, software development, testing, and validation. Hands-on database administration experience troubleshooting data issues. Power BI, Python, or RShiny experience (preferred). Advanced SQL and experience with relational databases and query authoring (preferred). Exposure to AI/ML concepts and experience supporting model pipelines (preferred). Experience with
REST API
integrations. Working knowledge of manipulating, processing, and extracting value from large datasets.
Education Requirements:
Bachelor's degree required. Advanced degree preferred.
Desired fields:
Computer Science, Data Science, Statistics, Informatics, Information Systems, or related quantitative field.
