Position:
Our client is seeking a Data Governance Analyst to help establish and mature enterprise data governance practices across the organization. This newly created position will play a critical role in improving data quality, governance controls, metadata management, and data lineage while supporting future AI and advanced analytics initiatives. The ideal candidate will combine strong data governance expertise with hands-on SQL skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with both technical and business stakeholders. This role offers the opportunity to help shape long-term data strategy while ensuring enterprise data remains accurate, trusted, secure, and ready to support data-driven decision making.
Key Responsibilities:
Design, implement, and maintain enterprise data governance policies, standards, and best practices. Develop and execute data quality validation processes, profiling activities, and governance controls to improve trust and reliability of enterprise data. Build and maintain SQL-driven data quality checks, remediation processes, and automated validation routines. Create and maintain metadata repositories, business glossaries, data dictionaries, and data lineage documentation. Partner with business and technical stakeholders to define enterprise data standards and improve data governance maturity. Support AI and advanced analytics initiatives by ensuring governed, high-quality, and well-documented data assets are available for use. Implement governance processes related to data lineage, versioning, traceability, and explainability. Analyze and remediate data integration issues, inconsistencies, and quality concerns using SQL and related technologies. Collaborate with Finance, Operations, Actuarial, IT, and other business teams to standardize data practices and improve data stewardship. Support ongoing continuous improvement initiatives related to governance, data quality, analytics, and emerging AI frameworks.
Preferred Experience:
Strong experience with data governance, data quality management, and enterprise data management initiatives. Advanced SQL and T-SQL development skills, including query optimization, stored procedures, and data analysis. Experience implementing and supporting enterprise metadata management platforms such as Microsoft Purview, Collibra, or similar solutions. Knowledge of data warehousing concepts, ETL processes, and data integration methodologies. Experience with Microsoft Power Platform technologies including Power BI, Power Apps, and Power Automate. Exposure to AI and machine learning workflows, including data preparation and governance considerations. Familiarity with PySpark or other large-scale data processing technologies is a plus. Experience within insurance, financial services, or other highly regulated industries is strongly preferred. Relevant certifications such as CDMP, CIPP, or related data governance certifications are beneficial.
