The Coalition serves as a statewide leader in Rhode Island's homelessness response system and manages the Homelessness Management Information System (HMIS), which brings together information from homeless service providers across the state. This position will help turn that information into action. The Analyst will analyze statewide homelessness data, monitor system and program performance, improve data quality, support federal and state reporting, and help providers understand and use their own data. The position will work with data every day, but just as importantly, will work with people - service providers, Coalition staff, community partners, and other stakeholders who rely on accurate information to make decisions. What You'll Do Analyze Homelessness Data & Performance Analyze statewide homelessness data to identify trends, gaps, emerging needs, and opportunities for improvement. Examine program- and system-level performance and help develop meaningful performance measures. Create reports, dashboards, and data visualizations that make complex information easy to understand. Translate data into actionable information for Coalition leadership, providers, funders, and community partners. Use data to support CoC planning, research, evaluation, and system improvement. Improve Data Quality & Reporting Monitor data quality across participating agencies and work with providers to identify and resolve issues. Develop tools and processes that make accurate and consistent data collection easier. Support required federal, state, and local reporting, including APR, LSA, PIT, HIC, SPMs, and CAPER. Develop data quality reports and performance tools to help providers understand and improve their data. Partner With Providers Across Rhode Island Provide technical assistance, training, and support to HMIS users and homeless service providers. Help providers understand and use their performance data. Troubleshoot data and reporting issues and translate technical requirements into practical guidance. Build strong working relationships with providers with varying levels of experience and comfort with data and technology. Strengthen Rhode Island's Homelessness Response System Use data to help identify system-level challenges, trends, and opportunities. Support initiatives that improve how Rhode Island measures and responds to homelessness. Develop and improve dashboards, reports, and other tools that support decision-making. Provide data and analysis to inform programs, resource allocation, planning, and system improvement. Protect Sensitive Information Help ensure HMIS data is handled appropriately and that participating agencies follow privacy, security, confidentiality, and data-sharing requirements. Maintain a high level of care and discretion when working with sensitive information about people experiencing homelessness. We're Looking for
Someone Who:
Is curious about what the data is telling us and why the numbers look the way they do. Enjoys solving problems and finding patterns, trends, and opportunities. Asks good questions and isn't afraid to dig deeper when something doesn't make sense. Can turn complicated data into clear, useful information for people who aren't data experts. Is comfortable working with spreadsheets, databases, and reporting systems—and willing to learn new ones. Is organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple priorities and deadlines. Enjoys working with people as much as working with data. Can build relationships with providers and partners and communicate with people with different levels of technical experience. Can work independently while also being a collaborative member of a team. Understands that behind every data point is a person and a real experience. Wants to use data not just to produce reports, but to help improve Rhode Island's response to homelessness. Experience in homelessness is helpful, but we recognize that strong candidates can come from many backgrounds, including data, research, technology, public policy, social services, evaluation, and information systems. We also encourage individuals with lived experience of homelessness or housing instability to apply.
