The data and analytics professionals on the Data & Advanced Analytics team provide the data, analytics and insights that support the England Electric team with delivering clean, fair and affordable electric power. Job Purpose In a world increasingly shaped by data, this role is your opportunity to lead the charge in transforming information into impact. As a Lead Data Scientist of Data & Advanced Analytics, you will elevate decision-making and unlock insights that drive innovation, reliability, and progress. You won't just manage data-you'll shape the future of how we work, build, and serve. We are hiring two people for this role, one more oriented towards data science and one more oriented towards data engineering. Both roles will have a heavy focus on data, BI, and advanced analytics tool development. Key Accountabilities
Employ sophisticated analytics, machine learning, and statistical methods for predictive and prescriptive modelling, forecasting, and simulations to solve business problems
Lead projects from conception to completion, working with multiple teams of stakeholders directly to understand and address their analytic needs
Assist with research, implementation, and delivery of data products that support the work of the England Electric Business, including data requests and dashboards.
Develop, manage, and maintain the EDM technology platform, which includes cloud computing assets, database architecture, stored procedures and orchestration jobs, and reporting
Assemble small and large individual data sets that meet internal business requirements and are within the overall Electric Data Management (EDM) technology platform
Design and implement ETL processes to collect, transform, and store data from various data sources (databases, APIs, FTPs, SharePoint) using a range of technologies depending upon the use case (Azure, SQL, Python)
Develop tools to automate manual procedures and optimize data and solution delivery for end users.
Qualifications Required Bachelor's degree in a quantitative discipline.
7+ years of Data Science or related experience.
Machine Learning expertise.
Python.
SQL.
Cloud Computing.
Database management experience.
Stakeholder communication skills. Preferred Master's degree.
PhD.
GIS programming.
Energy industry experience.
Regulated industry experience.
Advanced Data Engineering experience.
Snowflake, Oracle, SQL Server, PostgreSQL expertise.
Azure environment experience.
