Job Description

Experteer Overview As a Data Scientist at USAA, you translate business problems into statistical, ML, and optimization solutions to drive automation, revenue, and risk reduction. You work with engineering to scale solutions and enable customer-facing applications, leveraging data and cloud tooling. You collaborate with fellow data scientists to expand internal tooling and ensure model risk management prior to production. This remote-friendly role blends analytics, governance, and cutting-edge methods to support financial security for members.
Compensation / Benefits
  • Ingest and manipulate structured and unstructured data to enable advanced analytics
  • Develop scalable ML, simulation, and optimization solutions to deliver business value
  • Choose appropriate modeling techniques based on data and business needs
  • Develop and deploy models within MDC and MRM frameworks

  • Assess business needs to propose analytics and modeling projects

  • Bachelor's degree in a quantitative field or 4 years of related experience
  • 4 years in predictive analytics or data analysis, with advanced degree and 2 years in predictive analytics if applicable
  • 2 years experience in training and validating statistical or ML models
  • 2 years experience in a dynamic scripting language (Python, R)
  • Proficient coding with clear, well-documented logic
  • SQL/HQL/NoSQL querying experience
  • Experience handling structured, semi-structured, and unstructured data
  • Experience with descriptive, diagnostic, and inferential statistics
  • Ability to assess regulatory implications of modeling efforts
  • Experience with supervised and unsupervised modeling techniques
  • Experience communicating results to non-technical stakeholders Key requirements
