Position Description The Master Data Specialist is critical to ensuring accurate and reliable data across SAP and connected business systems. The Master Data Specialist will serve as a key resource for maintaining data quality, supporting business processes, and improving how master data is created, maintained, governed, and distributed across the organization. Responsibilities SAP Master Data Management Create, maintain, validate, and update material, customer, vendor, and BOM master data in SAP. Ensure master data meets established business, governance, and quality standards. Partner with Purchasing, Sales/Distribution, Finance, Operations, and other functional teams to resolve data issues. Perform data cleansing, validation, audits, and quality reviews. Investigate root causes of master-data errors and implement corrective actions. Support SAP data migrations, system changes, testing, and integrations. Maintain documentation, procedures, and work instructions related to master-data processes. EDI & Systems Integration Coordinate with internal stakeholders, customers, vendors, and third-party EDI providers to support trading partner setup, EDI processes, and issue resolution. Monitor and troubleshoot EDI transaction errors and data-related issues. Support SAP IDoc and EDI mapping activities. Develop working knowledge of EDI standards, transaction types, and trading partner requirements. Governance & Continuous Improvement Identify process improvements to increase data quality and reliability. Provide training and guidance to business users on SAP master data and EDI best practices. Must be flexible in handling ad-hoc duties that support operational and strategic initiatives. Requirements Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Information Systems, or related field (or equivalent experience). 3+ years of hands-on SAP master data experience. Demonstrated experience maintaining and troubleshooting SAP master data in a production/business environment. Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including XLOOKUP/VLOOKUP, PivotTables, conditional logic, data validation, and data analysis. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. High attention to detail and data accuracy. Ability to work cross-functionally with business and technical teams. Experience troubleshooting data issues and determining root cause. Preferred Experience with SAP data migration/testing SAP MDG experience SAP IDoc experience Experience with EDI transaction types (such as 850, 855, 856, 810) Experience with trading partner setup and with third-party EDI platforms Experience in medical devices, pharmaceuticals, manufacturing, distribution, or another regulated/complex business environment is preferred Lean/process-improvement experience Essential Functions The essential functions of this position include, but are not limited to, the following and must be performed with or without reasonable accommodation: Create, maintain, validate, and update SAP master data accurately and timely. Review and analyze data to identify errors, inconsistencies, and root causes and implement appropriate corrective actions. Partner with internal teams to resolve master data and system-related issues. Support SAP data migrations, system changes, testing, and integrations. Support and troubleshoot EDI transactions and data-related issues. Maintain documentation and ensure master data complies with established governance and quality standards. Manage multiple priorities and respond to time-sensitive data and system needs. Maintain regular and reliable attendance.
