ABOUT THE ROLE
As a Shipping Specialist supporting SpaceXAI data center operations, you will be responsible for the expedient, accurate movement of high-value materials and equipment (servers, GPUs, networking gear, power systems, cooling infrastructure, and other critical components) needed to support construction, commissioning, and ongoing operations. You will play a crucial role in ensuring efficient inbound and outbound logistics while maintaining product integrity, inventory accuracy, and compliance in a fast-paced, high-growth environment.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Process inbound and outbound material through ERP/WMS systems, partnering with procurement, construction, facilities, and operations teams to ensure quality, quantity, and timely delivery of material to the floor or vendors Properly package, label, and manifest parcel, LTL, and large freight shipments (including high-value/sensitive equipment) to protect product integrity throughout the transportation cycle Manifest consignments and schedule movements with carriers (FedEx, UPS, DHL, 3PL, expedited courier, etc.) based on delivery demand, ensuring correct documentation and configuration Coordinate with carriers and freight forwarders for pick-up and delivery; prepare shipping labels, packing slips, commercial invoices, packing lists, and other required documents Verify accuracy of shipping information (addresses, quantities, delivery instructions) and inspect/package products for shipment Determine the most cost-effective and efficient shipping methods; track and monitor shipments to ensure on-time delivery, resolve delays/issues, and update tracking systems Perform cycle counts and maintain inventory accuracy in shipping-owned incoming/outgoing areas Lead problem-solving for transportation issues (routes, delays, customs, rush orders) and maintain system integrity for all shipments Operate forklifts and material handling equipment per safety procedures to load/unload carriers Evaluate hazardous or sensitive materials and apply appropriate packaging/transport methods based on SDS and specifications Coordinate with internal material handlers/drivers to expedite material and avoid cutoffs Maintain strong communication and customer relationships with internal requestors and destination teams; provide timely shipment updates Collaborate with the team to identify process improvements and recommend initiatives
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
High school diploma or equivalency certificate 3+ years of shipping, logistics, warehousing, or materials management experience
PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
Bachelor's degree Experience in freight, expedited shipping, or high-volume manufacturing/technology/data center environments Experience with international shipping, export regulations, and customs documentation (where applicable) Strong knowledge of shipping procedures, regulations, and documentation Familiarity with shipping software (UPS WorldShip, FedEx Ship Manager, MyDHL, or similar) and ERP/WMS systems Excellent attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to multitask/prioritize in a fast-paced environment Strong communication and problem-solving skills; ability to work independently and collaboratively Forklift or material handling equipment certification Hazmat awareness or relevant certification and knowledge of transport guidelines Strong computer skills (Microsoft Excel, etc.)
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS
Ability to lift 25-50 lbs. unassisted; frequent standing, walking, climbing, bending, grasping, sitting, pulling, pushing, stooping, stretching, and carrying required Must be available for one of the following 12.5-hour shifts: 6:00 AM - 6:30 PM or 6:00 PM - 6:30 AM Work schedule follows a rotating pattern of 4 days on / 3 days off, then 3 days on / 4 days off (and repeating) Must be open to working all required shift hours, including nights, weekends, overtime, and holidays as needed to support 24/7 operations Comfortable working in warehouse/data center environments with varying temperatures and noise SpaceXAI is an equal opportunity employer.
