Sports Information Director - Game Operations & Communications

Athletic Director Position Summary The Sports Information Director is responsible for the organization, coordination, and execution of all athletic communications and game day operations related to statistics, broadcasting, livestreaming, and media coverage. This position ensures athletic events run smoothly from a communications and operations standpoint while promoting the department through game day storytelling and box scores. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Game Day Operations
  • Coordinate all game day sports information operations for home athletic events.
  • Oversee setup and operation of live statistics, scoreboards, livestream broadcasts
  • Manage and assign game day staff, student workers, statisticians, camera operators, broadcasters, and replay personnel.
  • Ensure all technology and equipment related to stats, broadcasting, and livestreaming are functioning properly prior to competition.
  • Serve as the primary contact for game operations communication between officials, visiting teams, broadcasters, and athletic staff.
  • Organize game scripts, ticketing, timing sheets, media seating, and operational flow to ensure contests run efficiently and professionally.
  • Maintain accurate game statistics and distribute post-game reports to coaches, conference offices, and media outlets. Athletic Communications
  • Write game previews, recaps, and press releases for all athletic programs.
  • Provide real-time score updates and game coverage for the Social Media Specialist.
  • Coordinate photography, video highlights, and digital content during athletic events.
  • Promote student-athletes, coaches, and teams through creative storytelling and media relations in conjunction with the sports website and social media specialist. Media & Broadcasting
  • Oversee livestream production for home events, including camera setup, graphics, audio, and commentary.
  • Coordinate broadcast talent and ensure quality production standards are met.
  • Work with conference and national offices regarding streaming requirements and statistics reporting. Administrative Responsibilities
  • Train and supervise student workers and graduate assistants assigned to sports information duties.
  • Assist with championship events and special athletic department functions.
  • Maintain knowledge of conference and NAIA statistics and reporting requirements.
  • Support branding and promotional initiatives within the athletic department. Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Sports Management, Communications, Journalism, Broadcasting, or related field preferred.
  • Experience in athletic communications, sports information, broadcasting, or game operations preferred.
  • Knowledge of live stats software, livestreaming platforms
  • Strong writing, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work nights, weekends, and travel as required by athletic schedules.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced athletic environment. Preferred Skills
  • Experience with video production and replay systems.
  • Familiarity with StatCrew, Genius Sports, Hudl, PrestoSports, or similar athletic software systems.
  • Leadership ability in supervising game day staff and student workers. Physical Requirements
  • Ability to lift and move broadcasting or event equipment as needed.
  • Ability to stand and work extended athletic events indoors and outdoors.
Education Required:
  • Bachelor's degree required.
Master's degree preferred.
Experience:
  • 1-3 years of experience in athletic communications, sports media, digital marketing, social media management, or related fields preferred.
Experience working in collegiate athletics is strongly preferred.
Compensation:
  • Salary is commensurate with experience based on the Department scale.
