JavaScript HTML Data analysis software Database software proficiency Full Job Description GIS Specialist V We are seeking a highly experienced GIS Specialist V to serve as the senior geospatial authority for a major regional program. In this role, you will lead complex spatial analysis, manage enterprise geospatial and nongeospatial databases, and ensure data products meet strict cartographic and metadata standards. You will guide analytic approaches, oversee data publishing processes, and support the development of tools and applications that make regional data accessible and actionable. What You'll Do Perform and direct advanced spatial analysis using all ArcGIS modules, supported by enterprise databases such as Oracle, PostgreSQL, and SQL Server. Utilize Esri server/mobile products, QlikSense, Power BI, opensource GIS tools, and image processing software including ERDAS and ENVI. Automate spatial data handling, image processing, and analysis using multidisciplinary datasets from chemistry, hydrology, toxicology, biology, geography, and geology. Maintain geospatial and nongeospatial enterprise databases, file geodatabases, and related web services, ensuring compliance with established standards. Manage regional data holdings and ensure data assets are properly published, documented, and discoverable. Develop and manage data intake processes for diverse data formats and sources, ensuring alignment with data requirements. Collaborate with internal and external workgroups to refine data publishing processes and ensure procedural completeness. Build and maintain data portals that support public and client access to environmental and operational data. Develop frontend and backend interfaces for applications, integrating modeling results into final products. Provide visualization, analytics, and informatics support using Qlik, R, Python, Jupyter, and Power BI across cloud and local environments. Review team work products for compliance with cartographic and metadata standards. Deliver training on GIS tools, data systems, and data management best practices. Produce and maintain system architecture documentation as systems evolve.
Required Qualifications Education:
BS/BA degree or equivalent.
Experience:
Minimum of 8 years of GIS industry experience.
Technical Skills:
Proficiency with the Esri suite of GIS products. Working knowledge of SQL for spatial queries. Familiarity with JavaScript, HTML, and CSS. Experience with Python and R scripting.
Communication:
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Suitability:
Must be eligible to obtain and hold a Tier 4 Public Trust. Preferred Qualifications Experience administering Esri enterprise environments, including ArcGIS Server 10.x and ArcGIS Online. Qlik Sense or Power BI application development experience. Familiarity with GeoPlatformstyle data environments, metadata tools, or data gateways. Experience leading or reviewing the work of GIS staff.
