Job Description
IDR is seeking a GIS Technician to join one of our top clients for an opportunity in Darien, GA. In this role, you'll support a public-sector, transportation-focused organization by maintaining and improving critical roadway GIS datasets. This is a hands-on position ideal for someone who enjoys detailed editing work, data quality, and producing GIS deliverables that support real-world infrastructure decisions. GIS Technician:
Edit and maintain roadway GIS data using Esri ArcGIS, including both geometry and attribute updates Review imagery and existing GIS data to identify roadway changes such as new/closed roads, reroutes, curbs, rumble strips, and related features Create, update, and correct GIS features using ArcGIS editing tools within common GIS data formats (shapefiles and geodatabases) Query, validate, and troubleshoot GIS data to ensure accuracy, consistency, and alignment with GIS standards Produce maps, reports, and other GIS deliverables, leveraging tools such as ArcGIS Online as needed Requirements for theGIS Technician:
Bachelor's degree (or near completion) in GIS, Geography, Geomatics, Cartography, or a related field, or equivalent relevant GIS/ArcGIS training and experience Hands-on professional GIS experience with demonstrated application in production or data maintenance workflows Proficiency with Esri ArcGIS (ArcGIS Desktop/ArcGIS 10.x or comparable experience) Demonstrated experience using ArcGIS editing tools to edit/correct geospatial data (geometry and attributes) Understanding of fundamental GIS principles, including working with spatial geometry, attribute data, and data quality/validation concepts What's in it for you?
