The GIS team at OTI builds various spatial data solutions and products, enabling the analysis and use of Citywide spatial assets. The Associate Support Engineer will be part of an exciting team to help New York City collect spatial data and allow the 3D mapping of critical underground assets. The Associate GIS Support Engineer will specifically work on the 3D Underground Project. The 3D Underground program will include data from utilities, NYC agencies, universities, and industry partners specializing in Ground Penetrating Radars and other subsurface mapping technologies. The collection and mapping of this data will help NYC better understand its critical subsurface infrastructure, which will improve the safety of city residents and workers in the field and will contribute to dramatically improved planning for capital projects. This position will be responsible for assisting with tasks related to the architecture, provisioning, and maintenance of the SaaS, PaaS, and IaaS resources needed to support this project, from data storage to application deployment. The Associate GIS Support Engineer will have the following responsibilities:
- Assist GIS and Data Engineering teams in developing and testing cloud-enabled solutions for underground data integration and visualization.
- Help set up, monitor, and maintain CI/CD pipelines and cloud-based deployments.
- Support the implementation of containerized applications, basic monitoring/alerting, and secure API integrations.
- Contribute to the maintenance of critical GIS infrastructure and team efforts to meet 3D Underground project milestones.
- Work collaboratively in a team-centric environment, interfacing with developers, engineers, and business stakeholders to advance project goals.
- Handle special projects and initiatives assigned for the 3D Underground project.
HOURS/SHIFT
Day- Due to the necessary technical duties of this position in a 24/7 operation, candidate may be required to work various shifts such as weekends and/or nights/evenings.

(NO- 8298A Minimum Qualifications 1.
- 2+ years of experience in DevOps, platform engineering, or a related technical role.
- Hands-on experience with cloud platforms such as Azure or AWS.
- Experience deploying container applications and working with containerization/microservices concepts.
- Familiarity with CI/CD tools (e.g., Git, Azure DevOps Pipelines, Terraform, or equivalents).
- Working knowledge of GIS platforms (e.g., ESRI, Carto, GeoServer).
- Basic experience using at least one programming language (e.g., Python, SQL, JavaScript).
- Understanding of relational databases (e.g., PostgreSQL) and NoSQL databases (e.g., MongoDB).
- Knowledge of cloud monitoring/alerting, API gateways/proxies, networking basics, and concepts for securing API endpoints.
- Experience supporting IaaS, PaaS, or SaaS solutions using Microsoft, AWS, or Google technologies is a plus.
- Strong team collaboration skills and an interest in contributing to Citywide initiatives.
