This position is planned at approximately 15-20 hours per week, and will be a 1099 independent contractor role. Work may be performed from the FHWA office in McLean, Virginia, a Washington, DC office, or another designated office, depending on Government requirements. The Multimedia Specialist will conceptualize and produce sophisticated visual, audio, video, interactive, print, web, and social media products. This professional will independently manage production workflows, collaborate with technical experts, and ensure multimedia products are visually effective, technically accurate, accessible, and aligned with program branding. Clearance and Suitability None. This is an unclassified position. The selected candidate must be able to successfully complete any required USDOT suitability processing and obtain a Government-issued Personal Identity Verification (PIV) credential if required for facility or system access. Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Multimedia Design, Fine Arts, or a related field. At least 5 years of professional experience in digital media production and design software. Experience developing visual, audio, video, interactive, web, social media, or presentation content. Experience independently managing multimedia projects from concept and planning through production and final delivery. Experience coordinating photo shoots, video shoots, animation, or web-based media production. Ability to collaborate with technical subject matter experts and translate requirements into effective multimedia products. Knowledge of Section 508 accessibility requirements for multimedia and digital content. Desired Qualifications Experience supporting Federal Government, transportation, engineering, scientific, or research communications. Experience with wireframing, user-experience design, brand strategy, or digital campaign assets. Experience creating animations, interactive presentations, or web-based media. Experience planning and directing photo or video production. A professional portfolio demonstrating multimedia projects across several platforms. Key Responsibilities Conceptualize and execute multimedia projects across digital, print, web, social media, presentation, and video platforms. Create and integrate visual, audio, video, animation, and interactive content. Plan and independently manage production workflows from initial concept through final delivery. Coordinate design concepts, photo shoots, video shoots, animations, and web-based media production. Collaborate with marketing, communications, engineering, research, and technical teams. Ensure products align with technical requirements, brand strategy, and audience needs. Optimize user experience and visual impact across platforms. Ensure multimedia products meet Section 508 accessibility standards.
