Internship, Software Engineer, Automated Diagnostics Intern (Fall 2026) Tesla Motors, Inc. 50.48 - 58.89 USD paid holidays, flex time, 401(k) United States, California, Palo Alto May 13, 2026
What to Expect This position is expected to begin around August 2026 and continue through November/December Internships at Tesla are generally full-time, onsite roles that last a minimum of 12 weeks.
International Students:
If your work authorization is via CPT, consult your school regarding your ability to work 40 hours per week before applying. You must be able to work 40 hours per week onsite. Many students will be limited to part-time during the academic year. About the Team Service Engineering is responsible for real-time diagnostic support for Tesla vehicles and other devices through the development and improvement of diagnostic tools and procedures. Feedback of top field issues to our development teams are used to improve current and future products. Tesla isseeking an intern that is passionate about the product, a strong critical thinker, and capable of understanding technical system-level architecture and issues.AutomatedDiagnostics Team:
Committed to building out the capabilities for quickly and accurately diagnosing vehicle issues remotely with limited customer interaction. Our team owns the entire customer experience, from the entry point in the Tesla App to the providing solutions for self-service or automating service appointments when a repair is necessary. What You'll Do Committed to building out the capabilities for quickly and accurately diagnosing vehicle issues remotely with limited customer interaction Owning the entire customer experience, from the entry point in the Tesla App to the providing solutions for self-service Automating service appointments when a repair is necessary What You'll Bring Currently pursuing a degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field with a graduation date between December 2027 - December 2028 Strong proficiency in Python Deep experience in API Development Solid understanding ofDistributed Systemsprinciples and architectures Hands-on experience withApplied Machine Learning(model deployment, inference pipelines, or ML system integration) Backend development expertise with production-grade services Knowledge of event-driven systems (e.g., Kafka, RabbitMQ, or similar) Proficiency with databases (SQL and NoSQL) Strong background in observability (monitoring, logging, tracing) Genuine interest incustomer experienceand building high-impact, user-facing systems Excellent critical thinking, problem solving, and communication skills A passion for troubleshooting failures, improving code quality, and optimizing system efficiency,monitoring and observability Compensation and Benefits Benefits As a full-time Tesla Intern, you will be eligible for: Medical plans > plan options with $0 payroll deduction Family-building, fertility, adoption and surrogacy benefits Dental (including orthodontic coverage) and vision plans.
