Job Description

The NOC Analyst I is a junior-level member of the Network Operations Center responsible for monitoring the health and availability of our broadband network, responding to alarms, performing initial troubleshooting, and coordinating service-impacting incidents with engineering and operations teams. This position is ideal for someone with foundational networking knowledge who wants to build a career in telecommunications and network operations. The successful candidate will work with a variety of monitoring, documentation, subscriber management, and ticketing platforms while gaining hands-on experience supporting a production service-provider network.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Key Responsibilities Monitor network infrastructure and subscriber services using tools such as LibreNMS, NetBrain, NetBox, Calix Operations Cloud, Calix Service Cloud, and ticketing platforms. Respond to network alarms, service degradation, and customer-impacting events. Perform basic troubleshooting using tools such as ping, traceroute, interface statistics, optical levels, device status, and network monitoring data. Correlate alarms and information from multiple systems to help determine the scope and probable source of network issues. Open, maintain, and update incident and trouble tickets with accurate troubleshooting notes and event timelines. Coordinate outages and escalations with network engineering, field operations, vendors, carriers, and other internal teams. Track incidents through to restoration and verify that affected services have recovered. Identify recurring alarms or problems requiring additional engineering investigation. Maintain clear shift handoffs and communicate the status of active incidents. Follow established NOC procedures, escalation paths, runbooks, documentation, and change management requirements. Qualifications Foundational understanding of TCP/IP networking, Ethernet, VLANs, switching, routing, DNS, DHCP, and subnetting. Ability to perform basic network troubleshooting and interpret network diagrams, alarms, and monitoring data. Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills. Clear written and verbal communication skills. Ability to remain organized and professional during service-impacting incidents. Strong attention to detail and commitment to accurate documentation. Ability and willingness to learn new network technologies and operational tools. Availability to work assigned NOC shifts, which may include evenings, weekends, or holidays. Preferred Qualifications Previous experience in a NOC, ISP, telecommunications company, technical support environment, or IT operations role. Familiarity with fiber-optic networks, GPON/XGS-PON, OLTs, ONTs, and broadband services. Experience with network monitoring or ticketing systems. Associate degree, technical training, or industry certification such as Network+, CCNA, Nokia NRS I, or equivalent.
