Job Description

Systems Architect We are seeking an experienced Senior Network Engineer to support the operations, performance, security, and reliability of a large-scale enterprise network environment. The Senior Network Engineer will work as part of the DivTel Bureau of Engineering team supporting the State Network and will be responsible for resolving escalated network issues, monitoring network performance, coordinating maintenance activities, and supporting network and application security. This position requires a highly technical, hands-on network professional who can independently troubleshoot complex connectivity, security, and DNS issues while communicating effectively with technical teams, business stakeholders, vendors, and non-technical users. The Senior Network Engineer may participate in multiple concurrent projects, serve as a technical or project lead when needed, and provide guidance and coaching to junior technical staff. Key ResponsibilitiesNetwork Engineering & Operations Monitor the performance, availability, reliability, and overall health of the State Network. Investigate and resolve complex network connectivity, security, and DNS issues escalated by the Network Operations Center (NOC). Utilize enterprise network monitoring, SIEM/security monitoring, and NOC ticketing systems to identify and troubleshoot network and system issues. Analyze network events, alerts, logs, and performance information to identify potential problems and determine root causes. Ensure network incidents and technical issues are properly identified, documented, tracked, reported, escalated, and resolved in a timely manner. Assist with troubleshooting network and system performance issues and recommend corrective or preventive actions. Provide timely network status, incident, performance, and operational updates to appropriate technical teams and stakeholders. Assist with maintaining the security of deployed applications and the supporting network infrastructure. Coordinate and support scheduled network maintenance, upgrades, changes, and other engineering activities. Work with vendors, NOC personnel, technical teams, and other support organizations to resolve network-related incidents. Produce clear and accurate technical documentation describing work performed, configurations, troubleshooting activities, resolutions, and project deliverables. Participate as a technical team member on multiple network and infrastructure projects. Serve periodically as a technical or project team lead. Mentor and coach junior network engineers and other technical personnel as needed. Communication & Collaboration The Senior Network Engineer must be able to work effectively across technical and business organizations and will: Serve as a liaison between business units, network engineering teams, technology teams, vendors, and support organizations. Explain complex networking and technical concepts in clear, understandable terms to non-technical users and stakeholders. Facilitate technical, project, team, and customer meetings. Deliver clear, informative, and well-organized technical presentations when required. Communicate difficult, sensitive, or high-impact technical information professionally and tactfully. Work collaboratively with Department staff, contractors, vendors, and external organizations. Develop productive working relationships with internal and external stakeholders. Identify opportunities to improve customer satisfaction, network reliability, operational processes, and technical support. Participate in professional development opportunities and continuously expand technical knowledge. Technical Qualifications The ideal candidate should have senior-level experience supporting enterprise or large-scale network environments, including experience with: Enterprise LAN/WAN network infrastructure TCP/IP and enterprise networking protocols Routing and switching DNS and network name-resolution technologies Network connectivity troubleshooting Network security concepts and technologies Firewalls and access-control technologies Network monitoring and performance management Security Information and Event Management (SIEM) platforms Network Operations Center (NOC) processes Enterprise incident and ticket-management systems Network troubleshooting and root-cause analysis Network maintenance, upgrades, and change-management processes Technical documentation and operational reporting Experience supporting large enterprise, government, statewide, or other mission-critical network environments is highly desirable. Preferred Experience Experience troubleshooting complex network issues across multiple organizations, vendors, or network environments. Experience working with enterprise network monitoring and SIEM solutions. Experience responding to and resolving escalated NOC incidents. Experience with DNS troubleshooting and administration. Experience supporting network and application security initiatives. Experience coordinating network maintenance and infrastructure changes. Experience serving as a technical lead on network or infrastructure projects. Experience mentoring or coaching junior technical staff. Experience working in a government or other highly regulated enterprise environment. Equivalent professional experience may be considered. Relevant industry certifications are desirable, including: Cisco CCNP or CCIE CompTIA Network+ CompTIA Security+ Fortinet, Palo Alto Networks, or equivalent network-security certifications Other advanced networking, security, or infrastructure certifications Position Level Senior Network Engineer The position requires an experienced network professional capable of independently resolving complex network issues, contributing to enterprise-level engineering projects, interacting directly with stakeholders and vendors, and providing technical leadership and mentorship when required.
