SENIOR TECHNOLOGY AND NETWORK SPECIALIST
Description The Senior Technology and Network Specialist is responsible for the oversight and maintenance of our extensive technology infrastructure. They ensure the security and privacy of our data, and manage our network, servers, and VOIP systems. With a strong focus on Cisco and Meraki network equipment, they are proficient in cloud-based services and automation. Their advanced problem-solving skills and keen awareness of interconnected systems are essential to our district's technological advancement, which enhances educational experiences for students and operational efficiency for staff. Duties and Responsibilities Provide technical assistance and support to staff for technology equipment and systems. Supervise, train, manage, and support Technology Field and Lead Technicians. Maintain inventory of technology equipment, parts, and supplies. Diagnose and repair technology equipment and systems. Establish and maintain network monitoring and security Ensure the security and privacy of student and staff data. Manage and prioritize district technology projects and initiatives. Coordinate the ordering and procurement of technology equipment, parts, and supplies.
Administer and maintain:
Microsoft Exchange Microsoft 365 Google Workspace Azure Active Directory Microsoft Intune Configure and manage network infrastructure, including Cisco routers, switches, and Meraki devices. Perform system backups and ensure data integrity using Veeam and/or Rubrik backup solutions. Manage enterprise storage solutions including ExaGrid, NetApp, and Wasabi. Monitor and maintain VMware virtualization infrastructure.
Configure and manage:
VOIP phone systems Verkada security cameras InformaCast paging systems Cisco ATA fax systems Utilize ticketing systems to track, prioritize, and resolve technology requests. Maintain technical documentation, including procedures and system configurations. Develop and automate processes using PowerShell and other scripting languages. Remain current on emerging technologies through ongoing professional learning. Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to support district technology initiatives. Monitor network infrastructure 24/7 to ensure business continuity for students and staff. Perform other related duties as assigned. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Network Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field; equivalent combination of education, certifications, and experience may be considered. Minimum of five (5) years of progressively responsible experience supporting and managing technology infrastructure, including network administration, systems management, cybersecurity, and cloud-based technologies. Demonstrated experience with enterprise networking, Microsoft 365, cloud services, cybersecurity, backup solutions, and technology management. Experience with Cisco and Meraki environments is preferred. Evidence of strong leadership, organizational, and project management skills, with the ability to supervise technical staff, prioritize multiple initiatives, and successfully lead complex technology projects. Demonstrated ability to build positive working relationships and communicate effectively with staff, administrators, vendors, and community stakeholders while providing exceptional customer service. Ability to analyze complex technical issues, develop practical solutions, and make sound decisions in a fast-paced environment while maintaining a focus on reliability, security, and continuous improvement. Demonstrated commitment to ongoing professional learning and staying current with emerging technologies, cybersecurity best practices, and industry standards. History of satisfactory attendance and performance with the New Bedford Public Schools or previous employer
