Job Description
Project Overview Client is seeking an experienced Oracle Middleware Administrator to support a strategic Oracle middleware modernization initiative. The primary focus of this role is upgrading Oracle WebLogic environments from 12c to 14c, assisting with domain migration activities, validating application compatibility, supporting Java runtime upgrades, and helping establish a supported middleware platform. The contractor will work closely with Middleware Engineering, DevOps, Security, and Application Development teams supporting the LYNXX platform and associated Oracle middleware environments. The organization is evaluating side-by-side upgrade approaches, new 14c domain builds, migration of existing applications, and retirement of legacy middleware components. Key Responsibilities Oracle WebLogic Upgrade Activities Upgrade Oracle WebLogic Server environments from 12c to 14c. Design and implement side-by-side migration strategies. Create and configure new WebLogic 14c domains and clusters. Support migration of applications from existing 12c environments. Perform domain configuration reviews and remediation activities. Validate compatibility across middleware components and integrated applications. Middleware Engineering Administer Oracle WebLogic Server environments. Configure servers, clusters, managed servers, JMS resources, JDBC resources, and security realms. Manage deployment automation and environment configuration. Support middleware patching and lifecycle management. Assist with performance tuning, monitoring, and troubleshooting. Platform Modernization Assess impacts of Java upgrades and application compatibility. Support migration planning for Oracle middleware services. Document upgrade procedures, runbooks, and operational standards. Assist in proof-of-concept and validation activities for upgraded environments. Partner with DevOps teams to automate middleware provisioning and deployment processes. Operational Support Provide production and non-production environment support. Troubleshoot complex middleware, deployment, and integration issues. Support change management and release activities. Participate in upgrade testing, cutovers, and rollback planning. Required Skills Oracle Middleware 7+ years administering Oracle WebLogic Server environments. Deep experience with WebLogic 12c and WebLogic 14c. Experience building and migrating WebLogic domains. Strong understanding of WebLogic clustering, security, JMS, JDBC, and deployment management. Java & Linux Experience supporting Java-based enterprise applications. Experience migrating applications between Java versions. Strong Linux administration skills. Shell scripting and automation experience. Cloud & DevOps Experience working in AWS environments. Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and deployment automation. Experience with Infrastructure as Code concepts and automation frameworks. Database Integration Experience configuring WebLogic data sources. Familiarity with Oracle Database and enterprise integration patterns. Preferred Qualifications Experience with Oracle SOA Suite and Oracle Service Bus (OSB). Experience with legacy Oracle middleware technologies. Experience performing large-scale platform modernization initiatives. Familiarity with Terraform, Jenkins, Git, and modern DevOps practices. Experience supporting highly regulated enterprise environments. Deliverables The contractor will be expected to: Build and validate WebLogic 14c environments. Develop and document upgrade procedures. Execute WebLogic domain upgrades and migrations. Support Java compatibility validation and remediation. Assist with migration planning for legacy Oracle middleware workloads. Produce operational runbooks and support documentation. Transfer knowledge to the Client's Middleware team before engagement completion. Success Criteria WebLogic 14c environments deployed and operational. Existing WebLogic 12c workloads successfully migrated. Upgrade approach documented and repeatable. Reduced dependency on unsupported middleware platforms. Transition to a supported Oracle middleware platform completed on schedule. Desired Candidate Profile We are looking for a hands-on senior middleware engineer who has successfully executed Oracle WebLogic upgrade projects, can work independently with minimal supervision, and can immediately contribute to planning and executing a large-scale enterprise middleware modernization effort.
