Job Title:
Controls Engineer Job Description This onsite Controls Engineer role focuses on designing, programming, testing, and commissioning control systems for commercial and building automation applications. You will work with controls, energy management, and integration of various building automation platforms, ensuring that systems are installed, configured, and tested successfully. The position plays a key role in developing and supporting custom control systems for OEM projects, while collaborating closely with cross-functional teams to deliver innovative, high-quality solutions in a fast-growing, customer-focused organization. Responsibilities + Design and develop control system architectures for building automation and OEM applications, ensuring they meet project and customer requirements. + Develop control system architectures for new products, including selection of hardware such as HMIs, sensors, actuators, and related control components. + Design and implement detailed sequences of operation based on project specifications, customer requirements, and system performance goals. + Program control logic and control systems to meet customer specifications, industry standards, and internal quality expectations. + Create control panel layouts, wiring diagrams, and system architecture drawings to support manufacturing, installation, and commissioning activities. + Conduct thorough testing of control systems on test benches or prototype machines to identify, diagnose, and resolve issues before deployment. + Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to controls hardware, software, communication networks, and field devices during development, installation, and commissioning. + Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including research and development, product development, sales, and customer support, to deliver effective and reliable control solutions. + Develop and maintain detailed engineering documentation, including control system drawings, wiring diagrams, system specifications, and configuration records. + Ensure projects are completed on time, within budget, and in accordance with customer specifications and quality standards. + Maintain and improve internal engineering and commissioning processes to enhance product quality, reliability, and efficiency. + Stay current with industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in controls and building automation, and incorporate relevant advancements into product designs. + Provide technical expertise and support to internal teams and customers during design reviews, commissioning, and post-installation support. + Support occasional onsite system commissioning and field activities at customer locations as needed. Essential Skills + Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Control Systems, or a related field. + 3+ years of experience in control systems engineering or commissioning, with a strong emphasis on building automation and HVAC control applications. + Hands-on experience with building automation systems and HVAC controls, including energy management and integration of building automation platforms. + Strong knowledge of control system integration, including electrical schematics, HMIs, and field devices. + Experience with control communication protocols such as Modbus, BACnet, and Ethernet/IP. + Familiarity with industrial automation and OEM systems for HVAC applications. + Proficiency in designing, programming, and testing control systems for commercial and building automation environments. + Strong troubleshooting skills with the ability to diagnose and resolve complex control system issues in both hardware and software. + Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, meet deadlines, and prioritize tasks effectively in a dynamic environment. + Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with internal teams and customers. + Attention to detail and commitment to delivering high-quality, reliable control solutions. Additional Skills & Qualifications + Knowledge of electrical codes and safety standards relevant to control systems and building automation. + Familiarity with control systems design software such as AutoCAD, Visio, or similar tools for creating drawings and documentation. + Knowledge in advanced control strategies for HVAC and building automation. + Experience working in a fast-growing, innovation-focused environment where continuous improvement and customer satisfaction are priorities. + Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, including R D, product development, sales, and customer support. + Interest in staying up to date with industry trends and emerging technologies in controls and building automation, and applying them to product development. #mneng26 Job Type & Location This is a Permanent position based out of Minneapolis, MN.
