This person will be responsible for developing manufacturing automation projects utilizing the latest in automation technologies. Controls Engineers are given the opportunity to work on projects from the initial planning stages to field installation and commissioning. Key Responsibilities Design and develop industrial automation and control systems. Specify equipment and materials, including PLCs, control panels, instrumentation, networking equipment, and automation components. Develop and program Human-Machine Interface (HMI) and SCADA systems using platforms such as Wonderware, FactoryTalk, Siemens, and similar products. Program and troubleshoot PLC systems, including Rockwell/Allen-Bradley, Siemens, GE, Modicon , and comparable platforms. Design, configure, and troubleshoot industrial Ethernet and control networks . Configure managed Ethernet switches, VLANs, IP addressing, and network communications between PLCs, HMIs, SCADA systems, servers, and other industrial devices. Configure and troubleshoot industrial communication protocols, including EtherNet/IP, PROFINET, Modbus TCP/IP , and similar protocols. Integrate PLC and control systems with plant networks, servers, databases, and third-party equipment. Assist with industrial network architecture, device configuration, communications, and connectivity troubleshooting. Apply industrial networking and cybersecurity best practices when designing and implementing control systems. Perform system testing, startup, field installation support, and commissioning. Troubleshoot control systems, instrumentation, networking, communications, and programming issues. Read and interpret electrical drawings, network diagrams, schematics, and control system documentation. Maintain accurate and detailed documentation of project conditions, changes, issues, and resolutions. Prepare and submit complete project documentation and final project manuals. Coordinate project schedules, milestones, and deliverables. Provide clients with project updates and maintain detailed project logs. Work effectively with customers, contractors, vendors, and internal project teams. Ensure systems and designs comply with applicable electrical, automation, and industry standards. Qualifications 2-4 years of experience as a Controls Engineer, Automation Engineer, or in a similar industrial controls role. Minimum 2 years of PLC programming experience required . Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology, or a related field preferred . Strong working knowledge of industrial automation, PLCs, HMIs, SCADA systems, instrumentation, and control systems. Experience with Rockwell/Allen-Bradley, Siemens, GE, Modicon , or comparable PLC platforms. Working knowledge of industrial networking, including EtherNet/IP, PROFINET, Modbus TCP/IP, TCP/IP, managed switches, and VLANs . Understanding of network architecture, IP addressing, subnetting, routing, and communication between industrial automation devices. Experience integrating PLCs, HMIs, SCADA systems, servers, and other equipment across industrial networks. Ability to diagnose and troubleshoot network connectivity and industrial communication issues. Familiarity with NEC requirements, ISA standards, and industry best practices . Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings, schematics, network diagrams, and control system documentation. Strong troubleshooting, organizational, documentation, and communication skills. Ability to manage multiple project responsibilities and meet deadlines. Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a project team. U.S. citizenship is required for this project position.
