Qualifying Employer for Public Service Loan Forgiveness (potential loan forgiveness for federal Direct Loans after meeting repayment requirements and working full-time for an eligible employer) Job Summary Estrella Mountain Community College (EMCC) is hiring a Student Services Technician. This position works within the Admissions and Records Department and is responsible for processing and maintaining admissions and records functions. To best serve the students, department, and college, this position is fully in-person. Essential Functions 30%
- Admissions Logistics and Compliance Assists new and continuing students with all aspects of the college admissions, records, and registration functions.
Provides student, faculty, and staff support; i.e. enrollment verifications, transcript requests for employers, students, lenders, and/or the National Student Clearinghouse.
Updates student records as required, following FERPA (Family Educational Rights & Privacy Act).
Responds to student communication and processes documents/requests.
Assists with Special Admissions populations including working with high school partners. 30%
- Operations, Data Integrity, and Quality Assurance Adheres to applicable laws, policies, rules, or regulations.
Prepares records for permanent storage and/or disposal.
Gathers data for reports, routine correspondence, and verification of accuracy.
Tracks the number of students served and other processing numbers and reports information to division leads.
Verifies program eligibility based on set requirements 30%
- Frontline Services, Staff Coordination, and Technical Support Supports Admissions and Records Office with a strong focus on customer service, quick response times to student and staff questions, and warm referrals to other related student service areas.
Provides student, faculty, and staff support; i.e. transcript evaluations, admissions application, Maricopa residency and tuition classification procedures.
Performs general office functions such as answering multi-phone line services and making outgoing calls, responding to electronic communication mediums, and providing front-line service.
Assists with training A&R part-time employees and Federal Work Study (FWS) student employees.
Submits HDT's for technology, facilities maintenance requests, etc.
Reserves rooms for A&R meetings, training, etc. 10%
- Administrative Support, Projects, and Other Duties Performs general office functions such as faxing, preparing correspondence, and gathering data for reports.
Organizes, orders and maintains supplies; arranges for basic equipment repairs or service as needed.
Performs other duties as assigned commensurate with position grade level.
Minimum Qualifications High school diploma or GED and one (1) year of full-time equivalent clerical, administrative office support or related experience. An equivalent combination of the conferred degree and directly related full-time work experience as described above sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above, unless otherwise subject to any other requirements set forth in law or regulation, may be considered Desired Qualifications
Six months or more of experience in student services within higher education. Preference will be given to candidates with experience interpreting and applying federal and state higher education regulations (i.e. lawful presence and residency determination requirements).
Six months or more of experience using Microsoft Office Suite or Google Workspace
Six months or more of experience using an online Student Information Systems (i.e. SIS)
Six months or more of experience training staff in a professional environment.
Six months or more of experience working with students from varied backgrounds/post secondary student population
Six months or more of customer service experience with a high degree of public contact including, but not limited to in-person, telephone, e-mail, text, and/or chat
One (1) year of full-time, relevant MCCCD experience within the previous two years
Special Working Conditions May be required to work at multiple sites or locations Work Schedule Varies and work is fully in person May be required to work evenings and weekends i.e. Monday
