The specialist will be responsible for developing control databases, graphics, and programming sequences while providing hands-on startup and commissioning support for building automation projects. The ideal candidate will have experience with Tridium, Niagara, Distech, or Alerton , along with a strong understanding of electrical circuitry, BACnet networks, HVAC systems, and building controls. Responsibilities Develop and maintain BAS control databases, graphics, programming, and sequences based on design specifications and project requirements. Perform system startup and commissioning, including point-to-point checkout and functional testing. Configure, commission, and troubleshoot BACnet MSTP and BACnet IP networks. Support and coordinate with installation technicians, contractors, project managers, and other project personnel. Debug and troubleshoot installation issues during static and dynamic startup and commissioning. Troubleshoot building operating issues that may extend beyond controls or special systems operation. Assist with estimating, design, installation, startup, commissioning, and training activities as needed. Prepare accurate startup and commissioning documentation, including daily logs, checkout logs, and commissioning reports. Provide hands-on service support for existing BAS installations to ensure reliable and efficient operation. Support facility building engineers with ongoing BAS troubleshooting and technical assistance. Complete timesheets, service work orders, project documentation, and other required paperwork accurately and on time. Assist with preparation of as-built drawings and Operations & Maintenance (O&M) manuals. Assist with project turnover from the Operations team to the Service team. Support the Sales team during the estimating process, including product and system demonstrations when required. Travel to project sites as needed for startup, commissioning, troubleshooting, and technical support. Provide on-site customer training and technical support to building engineers, project managers, and facility staff. Participate in an on-call rotation for 24-hour emergency response when required. Perform other duties as assigned. Required Qualifications High school diploma or GED equivalent. 1+ year of experience working with Tridium and/or Distech building controls, including field commissioning, servicing, and troubleshooting. 2+ year of BACnet MSTP experience , including commissioning, configuration, and troubleshooting. 2+ year of experience with BAS programming and controls database management. 2+ year of experience troubleshooting basic electrical and electronic circuitry. Ability to read and interpret electrical and electronic diagrams. Proven field experience with building automation controls programming, network integration, and system commissioning. Understanding of AC power circuitry, including breakers and multi-phase power systems of 120VAC and greater. Ability to read and interpret mechanical, electrical, and control wiring diagrams. Preferred Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electronics, or a related field. Niagara N4 certification. 2+ years of experience programming, servicing, and troubleshooting Distech, Alerton, or Tridium control systems. 2+ years of field experience debugging installation issues during static and dynamic startup phases. 2+ years of experience in construction, building automation controls, engineering, or a related field. Strong understanding of HVAC operations within commercial facilities, including K-12, government, healthcare, and/or data center environments. Experience supporting BAS retrofit and modernization projects, including replacement of outdated controls, sensors, and hardware. Experience coordinating with installation personnel, contractors, and project teams on job sites. Experience preparing startup and commissioning documentation, including daily logs, checkout logs, and commissioning reports. Experience providing service support for existing BAS installations. Knowledge of building occupancy codes and requirements Working Hours Monday-Friday Overtime as required On-call/emergency response rotation as needed Travel Up to 5% travel , depending on project requirements.
