Sr Linux Systems Engineer 100% ONSITE in Washington
DC 20006
Per Federal contract U.S. Citizenship Required Must be able to pass enhanced FBI background screening (criminal, financial and finger printing) for Public Trust clearance

June 2026- Dec 31 2026, with the possibility of multi-year extension based on performance W-2 or

Job Summary:
The Senior Systems Engineer will play a critical role in supporting a Linux-based high-performance computing server environment. This platform is essential for conducting statistical analysis and economic research across various business lines within the Federal Reserve Banks. The Senior Systems Engineer will be responsible for ensuring the platform''s reliability, performance, and security, as well as collaborating with cross-functional teams to meet the analytical needs of the organization.
Key Responsibilities:
System Administration:
Manage and maintain Linux-based high-performance computing servers. Perform routine system updates, patches, and security configurations. Monitor system performance and optimize resources to ensure high availability and efficiency.
Platform Support:
Provide Tier 3 support for the Board Analytics Platform, addressing complex technical issues and ensuring minimal downtime. Collaborate with business lines to understand their analytical requirements and translate them into technical solutions.
Collaboration and Communication:
Work closely with data scientists, economists, and other stakeholders to ensure the platform meets their needs. Document system configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting steps for internal knowledge sharing.
Security and Compliance:
Implement and maintain security protocols to protect sensitive data and comply with regulatory requirements. Conduct regular security audits and vulnerability assessments.
Project Participation:
Participate in projects aimed at enhancing the platform''s capabilities, including upgrades, new feature implementations, and performance improvements. Contribute to the design and architecture of the platform in collaboration with the systems engineering team.
On-Call Rotation:
Participate in an on-call rotation to provide after-hours support for critical issues and ensure the platform''s continuous operation.
Qualifications:
Strong understanding of Linux operating systems, shell scripting, and system administration tools. In-depth knowledge and experience using Ansible and Ansible Automation Platform. Experience with high-performance computing environments leveraging technologies such as SLURM and OpenOnDemand, and statistical analysis tools such as R, Python, MatLab, Stata, SAS, etc. Excellent problem-solving skills and customer-service focus. Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
