Job Description

ROLE OVERVIEW
The Senior IT Administrator is responsible for providing hands-on IT administration and technical support for the assigned Foxtronics location. This role serves as the primary on-site IT resource, supporting employees, maintaining existing technology systems and infrastructure, troubleshooting technical issues, and helping ensure reliable day-to-day IT operations. The Senior IT Administrator works closely with company leadership, employees, external IT vendors, and other technology resources to resolve issues and maintain established systems, equipment, applications, and security standards. The position is expected to independently troubleshoot and resolve routine and complex technical issues while appropriately escalating matters requiring additional resources, authorization, or specialized expertise. This is an individual contributor role and does not have direct supervisory responsibility. The Senior IT Administrator is expected to bring a high level of technical knowledge, responsiveness, organization, and accountability while providing approachable and dependable support to employees throughout the site.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES 1.
Site IT Administration & System Maintenance Maintains the site's existing IT infrastructure and technology environment to support reliable day-to-day business and production operations.
  • Administer and maintain local network, server, endpoint, telecommunications, and related IT systems.
  • Monitor system and network performance and respond to identified issues, outages, or equipment failures.
  • Perform routine system maintenance, software updates, patches, configuration changes, and other established administrative activities.
  • Maintain workstations, laptops, printers, mobile devices, production technology, conference room equipment, and other company technology.
  • Support established backup, recovery, and business continuity processes.
  • Coordinate with external vendors or other IT resources when issues require additional technical support.
  • Escalate significant system, security, or infrastructure concerns to appropriate leadership or technology resources. 2. End-User & On-Site Technical Support Serves as the primary on-site technical resource for employees and provides timely, solutions-oriented support.
  • Troubleshoot hardware, software, connectivity, printing, access, and application issues.
  • Respond to employee IT requests and provide clear communication regarding issue status and resolution.
  • Prioritize support based on business impact, with appropriate urgency given to production-critical systems and operational disruptions.
  • Assist employees with the effective use of company technology, systems, and applications.
  • Provide hands-on support for meetings, conference rooms, presentations, and other technology-dependent activities as needed.
  • Identify recurring technical issues and work with appropriate resources to determine practical solutions.
  • Maintain professional, patient, and service-oriented communication when assisting users with varying levels of technical knowledge. 3. User Access, Equipment & Account Administration Supports the administration of employee technology access and equipment throughout the employee lifecycle.
  • Set up, modify, and deactivate user accounts and system access in accordance with established company procedures and authorization requirements.
  • Prepare computers, phones, accounts, applications, and other technology for new employees.
  • Support employee onboarding and offboarding activities from an IT perspective.
  • Maintain appropriate user permissions and access based on established security requirements.
  • Track company IT equipment and maintain accurate hardware and asset records.
  • Coordinate equipment replacement, reassignment, repair, and disposal as needed.
  • Maintain software installations and licensing information for supported site systems and users. 4. Security & Compliance Support Supports established cybersecurity, access control, and IT compliance requirements at the site level.
  • Follow and administer established company cybersecurity policies, standards, and procedures.
  • Maintain appropriate system access, authentication, endpoint security, and other established security controls.
  • Monitor for unusual system activity, potential security concerns, or vulnerabilities and escalate concerns promptly.
  • Assist with security updates, remediation activities, audits, and compliance requests.
  • Support employee cybersecurity awareness and reinforce established IT security practices.
  • Document security-related issues and actions as required.
  • Assist external or corporate IT resources with security investigations or remediation activities when necessary. 5. Production & Operational Technology Support Provides responsive IT support to the manufacturing environment and works closely with Operations to minimize technology-related disruptions.
  • Support technology used within production and operational areas, including workstations, displays, network connectivity, printers, scanners, and other connected equipment.
  • Respond promptly to IT issues affecting production continuity or employee productivity.
  • Work directly with Operations and other departments to understand technical issues and identify appropriate solutions.
  • Coordinate with equipment vendors, software providers, or other technical resources when specialized support is required.
  • Assist with installation, configuration, testing, and implementation of approved technology changes affecting the site.
  • Communicate technology outages, limitations, and resolutions clearly to affected employees and leadership. 6. Documentation, Inventory & Continuous Improvement Maintains accurate IT documentation and identifies opportunities to improve the reliability and usability of existing systems.
  • Maintain documentation for system configurations, equipment, user procedures, troubleshooting steps, and other site IT information.
  • Maintain accurate inventory and asset records for IT equipment.
  • Document recurring issues and established solutions to improve future troubleshooting and support.
  • Identify opportunities to improve existing processes, system reliability, user experience, or support efficiency.
  • Recommend practical improvements or equipment needs to appropriate leadership for review and approval.
  • Assist with approved IT projects, system upgrades, installations, and technology changes as assigned.
  • Coordinate with vendors and service providers for scheduled maintenance, repairs, installations, and support.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education & Experience
  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field preferred; equivalent combination of education and directly relevant experience will be considered.
  • 5 or more years of progressive hands-on experience in IT support, systems administration, network administration, or a related technical role preferred.
  • Strong working knowledge of Windows-based environments, endpoint administration, networking, user account management, and common business applications.
  • Experience troubleshooting hardware, software, network connectivity, printers, peripherals, and other end-user technology.
  • Experience supporting users and technology in an on-site business environment.
  • Manufacturing or industrial IT experience strongly preferred.
  • Experience supporting production-floor technology or ERP/MRP environments preferred.
  • Familiarity with cybersecurity practices, access controls, system patching, backups, and endpoint security.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills with the ability to independently resolve issues and recognize when escalation is appropriate.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to explain technical issues clearly to non-technical users.

WORKING CONDITIONS
  • Primarily on-site position supporting the assigned Foxtronics facility.
  • Standard business hours with flexibility required to respond to critical system or operational issues as needed.
  • Work alternates between desk-based system administration and active support throughout office, production, and server/network environments.
  • Regular interaction with employees across all departments and organizational levels.
  • May occasionally coordinate or travel to other Foxtronics locations based on business needs.
  • Exposure to standard office and light manufacturing conditions.

Standing:
Work alternates between extended periods of desk-based system administration and active movement through office and production floor environments during support, installation, and troubleshooting activities

Carrying:
Occasional lifting and carrying of IT equipment, including servers, workstations, networking hardware, and cabling; must be able to lift 25 lbs or more
    Travel:
    Regular travel between Connecticut and Illinois locations required; valid driver's license and ability to travel by air as needed
      Mental Attention:
      Continuous high-level focus required to manage multi-site infrastructure, respond to security and system events, deliver projects, and support cross-functional stakeholders simultaneously
