The person hired for this position will support the integration of vehicle electronic systems, with a focus on software loading, verification, embedded Linux, and real-time operating systems. Due to the nature of the work, this position requires 100% on-site in Sterling Heights, MI. W2 Candidates Only. No C2C, subcontracting, or visa sponsorship available. Responsibilities Develop, document, and maintain software architectures, requirements, algorithms, interfaces, and designs. Develop and integrate complex software components into fully functional systems. Develop software verification plans, test procedures, and test environments; execute testing and document results. Load software images and deploy official software releases in laboratory environments and vehicles. Build and configure VxWorks, Linux, and other embedded operating systems . Perform Linux system programming, including driver development and hardware enablement. Integrate software into embedded build systems. Design, develop, test, deploy, maintain, and improve software. Troubleshoot low-level software issues and distinguish between hardware and software problems. Support system performance optimization and complex software pipelines. Enable embedded system security using cryptography and secure architectures. Manage individual priorities, deadlines, and deliverables. Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering , or a related field. 5-7 years of relevant software engineering experience. Strong experience with C and/or C++ development. Experience with the full software development lifecycle, including requirements, architecture, design, development, testing, integration, and deployment. Strong understanding of asynchronous programming, including processes, threads, timers, and interrupts. Experience working with complex, existing systems and codebases. Experience with hardware bring-up and low-level debugging. Excellent troubleshooting and debugging skills. Experience with Linux system image build tools such as Yocto or Buildroot . Experience with VxWorks and associated debugging tools. Experience with Linux system programming, device drivers, bootloaders, memory maps, or Linux kernel development. Familiarity with Git and software development tools. Strong written, verbal, organizational, and problem-solving skills. Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
Preferred / Additional
Experience Experience with safety-critical or real-time systems . Experience with Eclipse, GCC, GDB, Qt, Jira, Bitbucket, Confluence, GitLab, or DOORS . Experience with Agile, CI/CD, and continuous integration environments. Experience with Type I and Type II hypervisors. Familiarity with embedded system self-update strategies and open-source self-updaters. Familiarity with SELinux, verified boot, trusted execution environments , and other embedded security technologies. Knowledge of authentication, nonrepudiation, confidentiality, and integrity as implemented through digital signatures and encryption. Experience with NIST post-quantum / quantum-resistant cryptographic algorithms . Experience working with ground combat or military vehicles. Work Environment / Physical Requirements Work may take place in a prototype shop, laboratory, manufacturing environment, and office. Must be able to climb on/off, work in, and work around military vehicles. Must be able to meet applicable Anthropometric Size Requirements (ASR) for confined spaces. Ability to work overtime when required. Security Requirement This position may require eligibility to obtain a U.S. security clearance . Non-U.S. citizens may not be eligible to obtain a security clearance. Additional Requirements Self-starter who can work effectively in a fast-paced environment. Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills. Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet tight deadlines. Commitment to continuous improvement. Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
Pay Rate:
$47 - $52 per hour, based on experience #INDIT
