About the Role We're looking for a Deployment & Service Engineer to own the end-to-end deployment, commissioning, and ongoing support of our autonomous mobile robot (AMR) fleets at customer sites. You'll be the hands-on technical point of contact ensuring robots move from installation to reliable production operation, and stay there. This role is based out of Metro Detroit with remote flexibility, and involves regular travel to customer facilities. Key Responsibilities Lead on-site deployment and commissioning of AMR fleets, including mapping, localization setup, and network configuration. Perform fleet troubleshooting, incident analysis, and root-cause resolution across hardware, perception, navigation, and software layers. Configure and validate robot behaviors, routes, traffic rules, and safety zones to match site requirements. Monitor fleet health and reliability metrics; drive proactive maintenance and recovery procedures to minimize downtime. Serve as the primary technical liaison between customers and internal engineering teams, escalating and documenting field issues. Train customer operators and maintenance staff on daily operation, recovery, and basic troubleshooting.
Support presales and pilot activities:
site surveys, feasibility assessments, and requirements gathering. Contribute to deployment playbooks, SOPs, and knowledge base to improve repeatability and scale. Required Qualifications 2+ years in robotics deployment, field service, industrial automation, or a hands-on technical support role.
Working knowledge of robotics fundamentals:
SLAM/localization, sensors (LiDAR, cameras, IMU), and motion planning. Comfort with Linux, networking basics, and reading logs to diagnose issues. Strong troubleshooting instincts across hardware and software. Excellent communication skills and a customer-first mindset. Willingness to travel and work on-site in industrial/warehouse environments (expect regular travel, concentrated in the Midwest region). Preferred Qualifications Experience with AMRs/AGVs in warehouse, manufacturing, or logistics settings. Familiarity with edge compute hardware (e.g., NVIDIA Jetson) and perception/vision pipelines. Experience integrating robots with facility systems (elevators, doors, fire panels, WMS/MES). Scripting ability (Python) for diagnostics and automation. What Success Looks Like Deployments delivered on schedule with fleets meeting uptime and reliability targets. Reduced mean-time-to-recovery on field incidents. Customers who can operate confidently with minimal escalations.
