Pay:

$65/hour Job Overview We are seeking a Senior System Administrator with strong Unix/Linux and Red Hat experience to support enterprise infrastructure operations. This role will be responsible for administering Linux servers, supporting highly available environments, automating system administration processes, and helping ensure the reliability, security, and performance of critical infrastructure. The ideal candidate will have 6-8+ years of System Administration experience, strong hands-on experience with Red Hat Enterprise Linux, Oracle Linux, clustering, storage administration, scripting, and automation, and the ability to independently lead technical initiatives. Candidates local to the Joliet/Chicago/Chicagoland area are strongly preferred due to the hybrid onsite requirement. Responsibilities Administer and support Red Hat Enterprise Linux servers, including RHEL 6, 7, 8, and 9. Perform Linux server configuration, maintenance, troubleshooting, and performance monitoring. Support Oracle Linux environments. Configure and maintain server processes, system configurations, and backups. Support VMware vSphere environments and highly available virtualized infrastructure. Perform Linux security patching and coordinate planned maintenance activities. Support storage environments, including ZFS, LVM, Veritas, SAN, and NAS. Support and maintain Linux clustering environments, particularly Red Hat PCS clustering. Develop and maintain automation scripts using Bourne Shell, Perl, Python, or Java. Create and maintain Ansible playbooks for Linux build, patching, and system administration automation. Monitor system health, troubleshoot issues, and drive problems through resolution. Support production releases, infrastructure changes, and change-management activities. Maintain accurate server inventory and configuration information. Assist with data center activities, including server racking and stacking. Collaborate with IT teams, business partners, and technical stakeholders. Participate in technical discussions and provide recommendations for infrastructure solutions. Participate in a 24/7 on-call rotation for critical production systems. Perform scheduled maintenance and occasional after-hours work. Document system configurations, processes, changes, and troubleshooting activities. Identify opportunities to automate and improve infrastructure operations. Required Qualifications 6-8+ years of professional System Administration experience. Strong expertise in Unix/Linux system administration. Hands-on experience with Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL). Experience with Oracle Linux. Experience with Linux/Unix clustering, preferably Red Hat PCS. Experience with storage administration, such as ZFS, LVM, or Veritas. Experience creating original scripts/programs using at least one of: Python Shell/Bourne Shell Perl Java Experience with Ansible and automation of Linux builds and patching. Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field is required. Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision. Strong communication skills and the ability to explain technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences. Ability to participate in a 24/7 on-call rotation. Ability to lift up to 25 lbs. with assistance for data center/server-related activities. Ability to travel domestically as needed. Preferred Qualifications Experience with Veritas InfoScale. Experience with Oracle Clusterware. Experience with Solaris. Experience with Oracle Exadata. Experience administering physical and virtual on-premises servers. Experience with Microsoft Azure or Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI). Experience with Zerto. VMware certifications or experience. Red Hat or cloud administration certifications.

Pay:

$65.00 per hour Expected hours: 40.0 per week
