We are hiring a System Administrator- Senior to support an enterprise-level program within a federal environment. Job Description and Responsibilities Responsible for ensuring the stable and reliable operation of in-house computer software systems, network infrastructure, and communication links. Plans, develops, installs, configures, maintains, supports, and optimizes network software and related systems; organizes and directs the configuration and operation of information management systems; and analyzes and resolves end-user software, system, and connectivity issues. Conducts capacity and performance analyses and provides recommendations for system configuration changes, upgrades, and technology enhancements aligned with organizational goals and business objectives. Improves system administration efficiency and accuracy through the development and use of automated tools and scripts, standardized procedures, administrator training, and skills assessments. Provides end-user training and local and remote maintenance support for operational systems deployed across multiple locations, including server and application maintenance, upgrades, and new installations. Directs the work of system administrators responsible for day-to-day system administration, resource optimization, and user support. Applies advanced technical knowledge of application networking, including load balancing and fault tolerance, and performs vulnerability management activities to support the security, reliability, availability, and performance of enterprise systems and applications. Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSA) Knowledge of enterprise IT systems and network infrastructure, including servers, applications, network software, communication links, information management systems, and end-user connectivity. Skill in system administration and infrastructure management, including installing, configuring, maintaining, upgrading, optimizing, and troubleshooting servers, applications, software, and network systems across multiple locations. Ability to analyze and resolve complex technical problems, including end-user software, system, connectivity, capacity, and performance issues, while identifying effective configuration changes and technology solutions. Skill in automation and process improvement, including developing scripts and automated tools, establishing system administration procedures, and improving the efficiency, accuracy, and consistency of IT operations. Ability to lead, train, and support technical personnel and end users, including directing system administrators, providing technical guidance, conducting training and skills assessments, and delivering effective end-user support. Knowledge of network security, application networking, and system availability, including vulnerability management, load balancing, fault tolerance, system reliability, and performance optimization. Desired KSA Be a positive, self-motivated, and proactive person with the ability to adapt to change and tolerate stressful situations Candidate must communicate effectively with team members, team lead, management, and government customers Must have the ability and desire to research and develop creative solutions to unique problems with minimal supervision Minimum Training, Education, and Certifications BS or BA degree in a technical discipline Ten (10) years specialized experience (Specialized experience is defined as progressive experience in the field of Information Processing, where the majority are specialized in numerous specialized Information Processing disciplines involving a range of hardware/software solutions, at least four years of which are concentrated, hand-on experience in installing, configuring, maintaining, and resolving issues with various software). Regularly required to stoop, kneel, bend, crouch and lift up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, depth perception, color vision and the ability to adjust focus. Physical demands associated with this position include extensive walking (including stairs) throughout offices and between buildings. May require use of public transportation, personal or Government vehicle to drive to local and/or remote office locations.
