  • ATO Wide Duties Help At this level, the ATSS performs highly specialized technical work associed with the NAS.

    Automic Terminal Informion System, Automed Weher Observing System, Integred Terminal Weher System, Low Level Wind Shear Alert System, Runway Visual Range, Stand Alone Weher Sensors and Wind Measuring Equipment

Utilizes and interprets FAA orders, technical manuals, manufacturer's instructions, procedures and other publicions as required to complete multiple and complex work assignments. Applies judgment and discretion to select the most approprie method to complete the work assignment with a high degree of independence, keeping supervisor advised of significant problem areas, which may impact ATC operions. Supervisor furnishes general instructions on the scope of work, time limitions, and priorities. Possesses comprehensive knowledge of the NAS as an integred system of the relionship of the parts to the whole and of the capabilities within the NAS to deal with unusual problems or unanticiped air traffic safety issues. Understands how assigned systems, components, and disciplines are integred with other systems, components, and disciplines. Inities action to install, repair, or restore systems and services, takes into account the availability of back-up systems, possible reconfigurions to minimize service interruptions, and the relive criticality of particular functions to the safe and efficient operion of the NAS. Due to the nure of the job, usable vision (including color vision and near vision), hearing, and speech may be required. ATSSs may be required to lift and/or carry objects weighing up to 50 pounds; climb stairs/ladders up to 100 feet; be able to bend or stoop for extended periods; work in diverse environmental conditions (outside/extreme weher); work roting shifts, weekends and/or holidays; possess a valid driver's license, and possibly travel away from home up to 50% of the time. Specialized Experience :
completion of equipment specific academic instruction and on the job instruction and demonstred field experience in maintaining and certifying FAA facilities and services, in multiple disciplines, utilizing FAA directives, policies and procedures.
