Job Description Summary Help Build the Future of Connected Neonatal Care Our mission is simple: help send mothers and infants home healthy. The Infant Care team develops innovative medical technologies that support clinicians in Neonatal Intensive Care Units and Labor & Delivery departments worldwide. We build safe, reliable, and connected systems that enable critical clinical care for some of healthcare's most vulnerable patients. In this role you will develop the connectivity, interoperability, networking, and cybersecurity capabilities that allow medical devices to securely exchange patient information with hospital systems, central monitoring stations, and cloud-based management platforms. The software you build will support clinicians caring for critically ill newborns and mothers, helping ensure critical patient information is available when it matters most. You may be a great fit if your background includes: Embedded Linux software development Healthcare interoperability (HL7, FHIR, healthcare integrations) Network communications and secure connectivity Connected medical devices IoT or cloud-connected systems Telecommunications software Industrial automation systems High-reliability software platforms Medical device experience is preferred but not required. We value strong engineering fundamentals and the ability to learn new technologies. What You'll Build Connectivity services for connected neonatal care devices HL7 and healthcare interoperability integrations Secure networking and communication services Fleet management and remote service capabilities Wireless connectivity features Cloud-connected device management solutions Key Responsibilities Design, develop, and maintain connectivity software for connected medical devices. Develop interoperability solutions supporting communication with hospital information systems. Design and implement secure communication services using industry-standard networking and cybersecurity practices. Develop and support fleet management, remote monitoring, and device management capabilities. Implement and maintain wireless networking features for connected products. Collaborate with systems, software, cybersecurity, quality, and clinical engineering teams. Participate in architecture reviews, design reviews, and code reviews. Support verification, validation, and regulatory compliance activities throughout the product lifecycle. Investigate and resolve connectivity, interoperability, performance, and reliability issues. Contribute to long-term platform architecture and technical strategy. What Success Looks Like During Your First Year Deliver production-ready connectivity and interoperability features. Successfully integrate device software with hospital systems and external platforms. Improve networking reliability, performance, and security. Contribute to fleet management and cloud connectivity initiatives. Become a key technical contributor to the next-generation neonatal care platform. Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Software Engineering, or related technical discipline. 6+ years of professional software engineering experience. Strong proficiency in C++ and/or C. Experience developing software on Linux or Embedded Linux platforms. Experience with networking technologies such as TCP/IP, socket programming, secure communications, distributed systems, or device connectivity. Experience with healthcare interoperability technologies such as HL7, FHIR, healthcare APIs, healthcare messaging, or hospital system integrations. Experience developing high-reliability software systems. Experience with software testing, debugging, and code quality practices. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Preferred Qualifications Experience with HL7 v2.x message construction, parsing, and transport. Experience implementing MLLP. Knowledge of FHIR and emerging healthcare interoperability standards. Experience with IHE integration profiles such as PDQ, ACM, DEC, or related standards. Experience developing software for connected medical devices. Experience with embedded Linux platforms such as Yocto. Experience with Wi-Fi networking and wireless communications. Familiarity with MQTT and event-driven architectures. Experience with REST APIs and cloud service integration. Familiarity with fleet management or IoT device management platforms. Knowledge of cybersecurity principles including TLS, certificate-based authentication, threat modeling, and secure software design. Experience working within regulated development environments. Familiarity with Qt/QML development. Experience with CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and static analysis tools.
