Class Summary:
Works in coordination with the Matanuska Susitna Borough School District Information Technology (IT) Staff to provide configuration management and security support for end user devices within the District. Develop and/or deploy software installation packages, applications, and operating system (OS) images. Must have and maintain a strong working knowledge of OS deployment systems and task sequencing processes. Must have and maintain working knowledge in Microsoft operating systems. Monitor and configure Group Policy Objects (GPOs), objects, and organizational structure in a Windows Active Directory (AD) environment. Provide oversight of asset inventory. Assist with managing and troubleshooting network printers. Administer and support device security applications such as anti-virus. Works in a team environment, sharing information, providing and receiving training, and assisting others as needed. Duty No. Essential Duties Frequency Band/ Grade 1 Build, deploy, manage, & troubleshoot Microsoft's System Center Configuration Manager (SCCM) servers and agent software Daily 2 Build and deploy operating system images. Daily 3 Create and deploy software application installation packages. Daily 4 Utilize Preboot Execution Environment (PXE) Boot and Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP) systems, identify & diagnose connectivity problems Daily 5 Create reports using SCCM Structured Query Language (SQL) reporting Daily 6 Troubleshoot software/hardware problems Daily 7 Install, manage, and troubleshoot anti-virus software Daily 8 Install, configure, & troubleshoot Windows Deployment Services (WDS), Microsoft Deployment Toolkit (MDT), and Windows Automated Installation Kit (AIK) Daily 9 Use IT Ticket System Daily 10 Create, review, and troubleshoot batch files and scripts using Powershell and other scripting/programming tools Daily 11 Configure and administer security-related components of devices including Data Loss Prevention, Encryption, or others as identified. Daily 12 Provide and receive cross training from other Systems staff to ensure adequate depth of knowledge across the group Daily 13 Create compliance reports to verify systems are up to date and secure Daily 14 Other duties as assigned
Daily Knowledge:
Must have the knowledge to manage network devices such as Macs or PCs, mobile devices, Anti-Virus software, Ethernet, Printers, Servers, Wireless using SCCM, enterprise consoles or similar products. Skills (position requirements at entry): Is able to work independently to identify and problem solve a multitude of technical tasks. Must have the skills to develop and train users on proper procedures and applications. Must have a solid understanding of folder permissions, access control lists (ACLs), anti-virus software, and virus/malware remediation. Use and troubleshoot PXE and DHCP. Understanding of Powershell and other scripting/programming tools. Must have or be able to acquire knowledge of SQL syntax, use, queries, and reporting. Have and be able to demonstrate Powershell and scripting knowledge. Effective oral and written communications with other IT staff and District staff in a tactful and courteous manner. Training and Experience (position requirements at entry) : Minimum one-year network/technical support of a like environment. Has Microsoft AD experience. Prefer experience working with SCCM. Understands and has experience working on a network with Ethernet and wireless connectivity. Licensing Requirements (position requirements at entry): A valid Alaskan Driver's License.
