Job Description
Position Summary The POS Technician provides on-site support to drive-thru restaurants, keeping point-of-sale, payment, communications, timing, surveillance and internet systems operational. The position requires hands-on technical knowledge, practical troubleshooting skills, reliable follow-through and accurate documentation of every service request. Applicants with computer hardware, software support or IT systems management experience are welcome. The company provides two weeks of paid training, a company van and tools. A 90-day introductory (probationary) period begins on the date of hire. Technical Responsibilities Install, configure, diagnose, maintain and repair supported equipment; coordinate vendor service when needed; and verify operation after each repair or approved change. Minimize disruption to restaurant operations.
NCR, QPOS and Toast POS:
Support terminals, workstations, printers, cash drawers, kitchen displays and related peripherals. Troubleshoot hardware, software, connectivity and order-routing issues; perform approved installations and updates.Delphi OCS boards:
Install, configure and troubleshoot Delphi order confirmation screens/boards, including display, power, cabling and POS communication issues. Confirm orders display correctly after service.Drive-thru communications:
Service HME and 3M headsets, base stations, microphones, speakers, batteries and chargers. Diagnose audio, pairing, vehicle-detection and connection problems.HME timer systems:
Support HME timer equipment, displays, detection components, settings and connectivity. Verify accurate vehicle detection and timing after service.Payment devices:
Install, connect, replace and troubleshoot EMV chip readers using approved procedures. Coordinate with the POS provider or payment processor and verify transactions using approved testing methods.Video surveillance:
Support various camera systems, digital/network video recorders and viewing software. Troubleshoot recording, playback, storage and authorized remote access; verify recording after service.Internet and computer support:
Set up and support internet connections, modems, routers, switches, Wi-Fi and network cabling. Diagnose local-network versus provider outages; support computers, operating systems and approved software.Protect assets and information:
Maintain equipment and parts records. Use approved access tools, safeguard credentials and company information, and never place passwords or payment-card data in tickets. Access or export surveillance footage only as authorized. Follow safety procedures and refer work outside training or authorization to qualified personnel. Work Orders, Communication & Accountability Document every job: Use the company-designated work-order system for every service request. Record the restaurant, equipment identification, reported issue, diagnostic steps, findings, work performed, parts used, service times, testing results and final status. Include relevant photos and vendor case numbers when appropriate.Track through resolution:
Update tickets during paid working time and before the end of the workday. For unresolved issues, document the temporary solution, remaining work, next action, responsible party and expected follow-up. Do not close tickets until the repair is verified or the issue is formally transferred with documented approval.Communicate and coordinate:
Follow assigned schedules and dispatch priorities; obtain approval for schedule or assignment changes. Keep the supervisor and restaurant manager informed of arrival, delays, outages and completion. Escalate major outages promptly and provide clear, practical instructions to restaurant staff. Required & Preferred Qualifications Technical capability: Working technical knowledge of the POS, DelphiOCS, HME/3M
communications, HME timers, EMV readers, surveillance and internet/network systems described above. Ability to isolate hardware, software, power, cabling and connectivity problems; read technical instructions; and use diagnostic tools safely.Work habits:
Strong organization, accurate written documentation, clear communication and professional customer service. Ability to prioritize multiple service requests, work independently within assigned authority and recognize when vendor or supervisor assistance is required.Field-service readiness:
Valid driver's license, ability to meet company vehicle-use and insurance requirements, and ability to travel regularly between assigned restaurants.Additional experience welcomed:
Computer hardware repair, software support, IT systems management, multi-location restaurant support, low-voltage/network cabling or relevant technical training. Equivalent hands-on experience is welcome. Training, Introductory Period & Company Equipment Two-week training: The first two weeks include paid onboarding and hands-on training in company systems, restaurant procedures, safety, dispatch and work-order documentation. Applicants are expected to bring foundational technical skills. 90-day introductory period: The first 90 calendar days, including training, are an introductory (probationary) period. Performance is evaluated for technical ability, repair quality, documentation, reliability, communication and safety. Completion does not guarantee continued employment or change at-will status where applicable.Company-provided equipment:
A company van and tools are provided for authorized work. Maintain their condition, security and inventory; follow vehicle-use rules; and promptly report damage, loss or maintenance needs. Schedule & Working Conditions This field-based role requires regular travel and work in active restaurant and drive-thru areas. Scheduled evening, weekend or emergency/on-call assignments may be required. Record all working time, training and compensable travel. Duties may involve standing, bending, kneeling, using ladders and handling equipment, with or without reasonable accommodation.
