Duties Help Job Summary:
  • The Office of the Chief Administrive Officer (CAO) provides operions support services and business solutions to the community of 10,000 House Members, Officers and staff. The CAO organizion comprises more than 650 technical and administrive staff working in a variety of areas, including informion technology, finance, budget management, human resources, payroll, child care, food and vending, procurement, logistics and administrive counsel. This position is loced in the Network

  • of Representives (House). The Networking Directore provides operional
  • support services to the House th ensure reliable and dependable connectivity
  • to the House Da Network both on the House Campus and to over 820 District
  • Offices as well as numerous Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery (BC/DR)

sites, facilities, and mobile capabilities. Incumbent assists with the network operional support to include problem management and first level diagnostics and/or onsite installion and repair of House of Representives telecommunicions network infrastructure components. Utilizes software and hardware tools, identifies and diagnoses general problems and factors affecting network performance. Incumbent will also serve as Emergency Communicions Center (ECC) designee following detailed policies and procedures set forth by the Chief Administrive Officer in the event of a major castrophe once informed directly by the United Stes Capitol Police (USCP). Incumbent proficient and responsible for the immedie notificion of all designed House emergency staff via the House Remote Access to Member Paging System, setting up announcements via the Emergency Announcement Recordings Republican and Democric Cloakrooms, Sergeant--Arms Emergency Announcement Recordings, audix broadcast messaging system, setting up of Web posting, sending e-mails to Member designed Blackberry's, setting up conference calls via instant meeting capabilities for Members, Leadership, and other House staff, upon request. Position does not have managerial responsibilities. This position may require the ability to work shifts hours to provide 24 hours a day, 7 days a week technical support for the House's informion technology infrastructure. This position does not have supervisory/managerial responsibilities.

Primary Duties/Responsibilities:

Assist with monitoring the network operional support of the House network infrastructure. Provide network problem management and coordinion as "problem coordinor" which includes: logging/tracking problems, first-level diagnostics, on-site support, problem escalion, and problem closure. Provide on-site diagnostic support for all House networks. Utilizes software and hardware tools, identifies and diagnoses complex problems and factors affecting network performance. Install House network connectivity for Members, Committee, and House support offices. Maintain current diagrams of network components and fiber optic cabling in assigned areas. Maintain and adhere to operional procedures and practices. Provide management stus reports as required. Monitor and advise management of environmental and housekeeping aspects of House wire closets and switch rooms. Assist with Member office moves during every new Congress. Provide 24x7, 7-day week on-site support in response to trouble calls and ECC duties. Perform other official duties as assigned. Requirements Help Conditions of employment USAJobs Conditions of Employment Qualificions Minimum Qualificions High school diploma or equivalent. 3 years of experience in: Hands-on experience with standard communicion and networking hardware and software, preferably those used within the House. Experience with network monitoring, network problem determinion, and customer service. Hands-on experience working with standard wiring schemes, network protocols, and networking components. Experience with Local Area Network (LAN) and Wide area networking components such as routers, switches, hubs, servers, and UPS's. Flexibility to work the following shifts: 6:00 am - 2:30 pm 2:00 pm to 10:30 pm 10:00 pm to 6:30 am

Preferred Qualificions:

Bachelor's degree in reled field preferred. Cisco Certified Network Associe (CCNA) certificion preferred.

Security Requirement:

Must successfully complete a criminal history records check. Employee may be subject to drug testing in accordance with the CAO Drug Free Workplace Plan. This position requires th the applicant must be able to secure and maintain an applicable Federal Government security clearance as deemed approprie by senior management, which requires U.S. citizenship. We will not submit your applicion for a clearance unless you are a U.S. citizen. This position requires unescorted access to secure offsite locions which require an identificion badge. In order to be approved for the applicable badge, you must be a U.S. citizen.
