JOB SUMMARY
The Network Technician provides technical support for the organization's network infrastructure, assisting with installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and documentation. This position ensures stable daily network operations and serves as a front-line resource for connectivity issues, working under the direction of senior IT personnel. This position reports to the Manager, Information Technology Operations.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
: Install, configure, and maintain network hardware such as switches, routers, cabling, wireless access points, and related components. Respond to and resolve Tier I-II network connectivity issues for staff across all facilities. Monitor and report on network performance, uptime, and alerts; escalate issues when necessary. Assist Network Engineers with network upgrades, new deployments, and planned maintenance activities. Perform routine tasks including port activation, patch panel management, equipment labeling, and firmware updates. Troubleshoot LAN/WAN, Wi Fi, VPN, and basic firewall-related issues. Maintain accurate documentation of configurations, network maps, change logs, and inventory. Support end users by identifying and addressing network-related problems affecting systems, devices, or applications. Coordinate with vendors and service providers to resolve basic service or equipment concerns. Ensure compliance with organizational IT policies, security standards, and change management procedures.
Requirements:
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS TO PERFORM WORK
: Associate degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Networking, or related field; equivalent experience accepted. CompTIA Network+ or equivalent certification preferred. One to two years of experience supporting network systems, devices, or structured cabling. Working knowledge of TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, switching, Wi Fi technologies, and network troubleshooting tools.
Specific License or Certification Required :
Valid South Carolina driver's license.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities :
Solid understanding of basic networking concepts and best practices. Ability to diagnose and resolve connectivity issues efficiently. Strong customer service and communication skills. Ability to follow established procedures and work under direction of senior technical staff. Effective time management and attention to detail. Ability to maintain confidentiality with sensitive infrastructure information.
