Job Description
The Rappahannock Regional Jail is seeking an Information Technology Technician to perform intermediate technical work troubleshooting and installing software, hardware, peripherals, and related work as apparent or assigned. Essential Functions include, but are not limited to: Responds to trouble calls and provides support for a variety of technical issues such as installation and repair of hardware, software, and peripherals. Implements back-up of servers using established procedures; maintains files and records, develops and maintains inventory of computer software and hardware; conducts audits of software, hardware, and supplies. Serves as point of contact for vendors; schedules appointments and escorts vendors to various locations in the Jail. Troubleshoots problems related to the network/telecommunications systems/servers and PCs; sets up accounts for new employees and assists in the maintenance of existing user accounts. Assists in training of staff to effectively use the basic and advanced features of software; trains new employees in the Jail's IT topology and network infrastructure. Troubleshoots, installs, configures, and upgrades facility security systems including peripheral such touchscreens, IP cameras, intercoms, UPS, switches, and doors. Assists in the evaluation, procurement, and implementation of information systems.
Education/Experience:
High school diploma or GED with coursework in computer science, information technology, or related field and moderate experience in computer installation, operations, maintenance, and repair, or equivalent combination of education and experience.Special Requirements:
Possession of CompTIA A+, CompTIA Security+, CompTIA Network+ certifications preferred. Must obtain CompTIA Security+ within 6 months of hiring. Valid driver's license in the Commonwealth of Virginia. This position will require flexibility in work schedule. Applicant must pass a criminal background, Drug Test, DMV check and polygraph examination.
