Principal Software Developer Functional Description:

Develop and maintain software applications for the Aviation Logistics Department (ALD).

Responsibilities include:

Develop, maintain, and provide helpdesk support for ALD software including the Cannibalization (CANN) tool, Supply Analysis Tool (SAT), MCAR dashboard, Financial Organizational Code Extract System (FORCES), RSMS, and NASEMS. Develop and maintain supply warehouse automation software. Design and maintain ALD web pages and applications using tools such as government owned or licensed Software as a Service (Saas) and Platform as a Service (PaaS). Create and maintain comprehensive help files for all developed software. Possess and apply knowledge of multiple coding languages (C#, VBA, SQL, Python, etc.). Produce static code reviews and participate in the RMF process for all developed software. Provide quarterly training to ALD staff on office productivity software and provide daily end-user support for all developed applications.

Education:

A minimum of 13 years' specific experience with no degree.

ALLOWABLE SUBSTITUTION

Fewer years of experience are required if candidate has a college degree.

Experience:

The following is required: Experience developing, researching, designing, implementing, testing and evaluating software and systems in conjunction with hardware product development. Experience applying principles and techniques of computer science, engineering and mathematical analysis to enable computers and systems to perform required applications. Experience providing technical support and influencing the direction of an organization's solution-based offerings, systems or products. Experience supporting the implementation of technical solutions and resolving technical issues that may arise. Experience analyzing and identifying root causes of technical issues, triaging issues and providing timely workarounds and solutions. Experience contributing to the development of data pipelines to support data analysis functions. Experience ingesting data from various sources, including web pages, APIs and databases at scheduled intervals. Experience contributing to database schema design to store clean data in an efficient, reliable and maintainable manner. Experience supporting the development of APIs that enable internal teams to conveniently access stored data. Experience monitoring and reporting on the health, reliability and performance of data pipelines.
