Job Description
Position Summary:
The Senior Capacity Planning Engineer for Mainframe works directly with a team responsible for monitoring, analyzing, and reporting mainframe processing capacity. The successful candidate will collect, process and validate system resource data along with business volume data for future analysis using sound data science principles. One should have a basic understanding of Mainframe while knowledgeable of sources and tools used to collect, validate, then process required system data. One should have a solid background in descriptive statistics to extrapolate insight from large quantities of raw data using SAS software on the mainframe and in distributed environments. Specific Responsibilities Mainframe capacity planning Run and validate the Data Collection and Reporting process using scheduling software. Design basic reports using SAS Build and Edit JCL in ISPF Creating / Updating policies, job aids and other documentationMICS/MXG
support and maintenance LearnMICS/MXG
Database Architecture Diagnose MICS related errors. Able to execute and validate MICS administrative tasks to maintain proper maintenance. Data analysis - Descriptive Statistics Basic methods to Summarize Data Display data in an organized manner. Able to identify, describe patterns and relationships. Business volumes and other reporting Collection and reporting of business volume data from varied sources. Risk assessments of extreme market conditions for selected business streams Produce/update a Business Process Requirements document for selected business streams.Management / Regulatory
/ Audit Organize and store Capacity Planning artifacts in their proper location for future retrieval. Ad hoc report development for senior business and management forums Mitigates risk by following established procedures and monitoring controls, spotting key errors and demonstrating strong ethical behavior. Qualifications Minimum of 5 years of related experience Bachelor's degree in a mathematics / statistics discipline preferred or equivalent work experience Specific Skills & Technologies SAS experience required. Understanding of mainframe technology and componentsMICS/MXG
