The Sales & Applications Engineer will identify and develop strategic relationships with current and prospective customers while building a strong pipeline of new business opportunities through direct customer engagement and prospecting.
This role will work closely with Sales, Marketing, Engineering, Technology, and Product Development teams to support business development initiatives and drive the successful delivery of equipment to end users.
The successful candidate will have a strong technical background and practical knowledge of metallurgy, electronics, sensors, PLCs, HMIs, hydraulics, and systems integration. Experience with vacuum systems and furnaces is highly desirable.
The position requires strong communication and presentation skills, attention to detail, self-motivation, and the ability to confidently lead customer meetings and technical discussions.
Travel will be up to 35%, primarily domestic, with occasional international travel.
Primary ResponsibilitiesDevelop and maintain strong relationships with new and existing customers.
Identify and pursue new business opportunities within targeted industries.
Attend key trade shows, conferences, and technical events to increase brand and product awareness.
Present technical information and participate in industry conferences and events.
Develop and maintain a strong network of customers, suppliers, and industry partners.
Monitor emerging technologies and evaluate their potential applications.
Research industry trends, market segments, and growth opportunities.
Provide management with insights and recommendations regarding market trends and business development opportunities.
Work collaboratively with Sales, Engineering, Marketing, Technology, and Product Development teams.
Support customers throughout the application and equipment development process.
Communicate the technical capabilities, innovations, and value of the company's products to prospective customers.
Required QualificationsBachelor's degree in Materials Science, Metallurgy, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related discipline.
Minimum 2 years of experience in the metals industry.
Strong technical, analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
Experience managing and executing projects.
Ability to work with U.S. export-controlled products, processes, and information.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Word and Outlook.
Practical working knowledge of vacuum equipment preferred.
Knowledge of vacuum systems, furnaces, or related industrial equipment is a plus.
Willingness and ability to travel up to 35% domestically and internationally.
Physical RequirementsAbility to stand and walk for extended periods.
Ability to ascend and descend stairs and/or ladders.
Ability to travel by airplane.
Ability to work on a computer for several hours at a time.
Ability to perform tasks involving reaching, handling, and operating tools, equipment, and controls.
Ability to communicate effectively in person and by phone.
