Job Description:
The Computer Science Department is seeking to hire an adjunct instructor to teach one in-person section of Game Development CSIS-345, for the Spring 2027 semester. The
CSIS-345
course description is as follows. Game development is a truly interdisciplinary creative process, merging software engineering with the design of graphics, sound, interfaces, and gameplay. Students in this course will learn about the tenets of game design as well as the software development tools needed by the modern game programmer. Projects in this course will provide students with the skills necessary to begin independently developing their own games. Each section meets twice weekly with 2 hours of lecture and 2 hours of lab (4 contact hours for the instructor). The instructor would be free to divide the 4 hours of class time between lecture and lab activities as appropriate. The course prerequisite is Data Structures
CSIS-210
(uses Java), and the course serves as a capstone for students completing the CS major's game development track and as an upper-level elective for students in other tracks. This course has been taught with a game engine such as Unity or Unreal.
Requirements:
Minimum Qualifications Master's degree in Computer Science or a closely related field. Academic and/or industry experience in game development. Ability to teach in person at the Loudonville, NY campus. Availability to teach during regular business hours and/or evening hours. Preferred Qualifications Teaching experience in Computer Science or a closely related field. Demonstrated ability to teach courses related to game development.

Pay Rate:
$1333.34 per contact hour •The hiring pay rate above represents the University's good faith estimate at the time of posting in compliance with the Albany County Salary Transparency Law.
