locations Troy - 101 Trade Sq E time type Full time posted on Posted Today job requisition id JR10138 Job Description The Application Engineer is responsible for providing application support, product recommendations, troubleshooting, and other technical support to product managers, R D, Quality, ITW sales team, Sales Channel, and End-Users. The application Engineer will be a Hobart product expert and work on welding-related projects to increase the "pull through" of ITW Welding Products. Serve as an Application Expert regarding stick electrodes, tubular, aluminum, and solid wire products and processes. Perform and create key product data to support customer needs. Provide end-user solutions to optimize value, both via phone and at customer sites. Perform and create reports on product evaluations and customer projects. Effectively conduct training sessions (theoretical and practical) in welding techniques and processes for internal and external customers. Field calls from the Applications Engineering Hotline. Competitive analysis of other welding products. Conduct weld trials and procedure testing in a weld lab environment utilizing ITW Welding solutions. Must be able to travel up to 25% of the time. Limited international travel, if any, required. Qualifications Engineering degree is required by January 2027; preference for Welding Engineering, Welding Technology, or Material Science with a materials joining emphasis. Two or more years of industry work experience preferred. Strong application knowledge in welding processes and manufacturing technologies. Strong interpersonal and problem-solving skills, with demonstrated ability to work with customers to understand issues and propose effective solutions. Candidate must be able to analyze data sets, problems, and situations and make impactful data-driven decisions. Candidate must have strong communication and presentation skills including computer skills such as Word Documents and Excel spreadsheets. It will be necessary for this candidate to possess time management skills, strong initiative, and be a self-starter/team player. Capable of working with minimal supervision and driving objectives to completion. Experience with programming robotic arc welding systems preferred.
