Job Overview:

The Senior DevOps Engineer designs, builds, operates, and continuously improves the platforms, automation, observability, and delivery practices that support high-volume, mission-critical applications. This hands-on role focuses on reliable software delivery, scalable cloud infrastructure, production monitoring, CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure automation, and migration initiatives. The Senior DevOps Engineer partners closely with software engineering, QA, security, data, and business teams to improve system reliability, deployment velocity, operational visibility, and developer experience. This role also serves as a technical resource for other engineers and as a liaison between the department manager, technical teams, and business stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:

Operate within an Agile Scrum SDLC environment, contributing to requirements analysis, technical design, implementation, deployment, monitoring, incident response, and continuous improvement. Design, build, maintain, and optimize CI/CD pipelines that enable secure, repeatable, and reliable application delivery. Develop and maintain infrastructure-as-code, configuration management, and automation frameworks for cloud environments. Build and evolve observability capabilities, including application and infrastructure monitoring, logging, alerting, tracing, dashboards, service-level indicators, and service-level objectives. Improve the reliability, scalability, performance, security, and cost efficiency of production systems. Lead or support application, infrastructure, database, and cloud migration initiatives, including planning, automation, validation, rollback strategies, and post-migration monitoring. Develop automation tools and frameworks that reduce manual operational work and improve engineering productivity. Partner with application teams to establish deployment standards, operational readiness criteria, monitoring requirements, and incident-response practices. Troubleshoot production incidents, identify root causes, document findings, and implement durable corrective and preventive actions. Proactively identify risks in technical designs, deployment processes, system performance, observability coverage, or architecture and escalate them appropriately. Apply AI tools as part of daily work to analyze systems, troubleshoot issues, design automation, improve documentation, and accelerate delivery workflows. Collaborate with engineers and cross-functional stakeholders to establish scalable platform and DevOps practices. Mentor engineers in areas such as CI/CD, cloud operations, observability, automation, infrastructure-as-code, and production support. Demonstrate a self-directed, bias-for-action mindset when solving operational and engineering problems. Qualifications 5+ years of experience in DevOps, Site Reliability Engineering, platform engineering, cloud engineering, or a related software engineering discipline. 3+ years of experience designing, implementing, and maintaining CI/CD pipelines and automated deployment processes. 3+ years of experience deploying, operating, and troubleshooting applications in cloud environments; Microsoft Azure is strongly preferred. Experience with infrastructure-as-code and configuration automation tools, such as Terraform, Bicep, ARM templates, Ansible, or similar technologies. Experience implementing observability solutions, including centralized logging, metrics, alerting, dashboards, distributed tracing, and incident response processes. Experience building automation frameworks or scripting operational workflows using technologies such as JavaScript, TypeScript, Node.js, Python, PowerShell, Bash, or similar languages. Experience supporting application, database, infrastructure, or cloud migration efforts. Experience working with SQL databases and data migration or deployment processes. Experience supporting high-volume, highly available, multi-tier enterprise systems. Experience leveraging AI tools to analyze, design, debug, automate, document, and improve daily engineering workflows. Familiarity with security best practices for cloud infrastructure, application delivery, identity, secrets management, and vulnerability remediation. Strong oral and written communication skills. Outstanding troubleshooting, incident-management, and technical support skills. Distinguishing Features for a Senior DevOps Engineer In addition to the qualifications listed above, a Senior DevOps Engineer may demonstrate: 2+ additional years of experience with cloud infrastructure, automation, platform engineering, or reliability engineering. Advanced experience designing enterprise CI/CD pipelines, release processes, and deployment strategies. Advanced experience with observability platforms and practices, including service-level objectives, alert tuning, tracing, and operational dashboards. Experience leading or substantially contributing to complex cloud, application, database, or infrastructure migrations. Experience establishing reusable infrastructure modules, automation frameworks, and engineering standards. Experience leveraging AI agents to chain operational tasks, automate workflows, and improve engineering productivity. Experience with containerization and orchestration technologies, such as Docker, Kubernetes, or Azure Kubernetes Service. Experience with NoSQL databases, messaging platforms, or event-driven architectures is a plus. Advanced degree or training in a related technical field is preferred. Distinguishing Features for a Lead DevOps Engineer In addition to the qualifications listed above, a Lead DevOps Engineer may demonstrate: 1+ additional years of advanced experience in DevOps, cloud engineering, platform engineering, or site reliability engineering. Prior experience leading technical teams or initiatives with a proven track record of building high-performing, trusted engineering teams. Experience defining and driving DevOps strategy, cloud standards, delivery practices, observability maturity, and reliability goals across multiple teams. Experience leading large-scale migration, modernization, automation, or platform transformation initiatives. Experience creating and sharing reusable AI-enabled engineering workflows that uplift the team's and organization's AI adoption. Proven ability to influence architecture, operational practices, deployment processes, and cross-functional technical decisions.
