Vector's partner is in need of an Application Engineer who will serve as a critical technical and commercial link between customers, outside sales, and internal engineering/operations teams. This role is responsible for managing the full pre-order lifecycle of engineered power distribution solutions, including low- and medium-voltage switchgear, PDUs, RPPs, busway systems, and other mission-critical electrical infrastructure. Responsibilities:
Serve as the primary technical contact for incoming RFQs related to power distribution systems for data centers, industrial facilities, and other critical environments. Collaborate closely with outside sales to define bid strategy. Review electrical one-lines, plans, and specifications to perform detailed take-offs for switchgear, PDUs, transformers, busway, and related components. Analyze project specs to ensure compliance with UL standards, NEC requirements, and customer requirements; develop Compliance/Deviation documentation. Select and configure appropriate products, ensuring system performance, reliability, and scalability for mission-critical applications. Create and manage project files in ERP/quoting systems (e.g., eBOSS or equivalent).
Low/medium voltage switchgear, Power Distribution Units (PDUs), Remote Power Panels (RPPs), Busway and tap boxes Maintain organized records of drawings, specifications, revisions, and communications. Validate that configured solutions match purchase orders and customer expectations prior to order entry. Coordinate internal costing and supplier pricing to build detailed, professional proposals. Act as a subject matter expert for both sales teams and customers, answering technical questions and supporting design changes. Manage scope changes and update proposals accordingly throughout the sales cycle. Verify terms, scope, and technical requirements on customer POs; resolve discrepancies proactively. Lead project handoff meetings with engineering, project management, and operations teams. Develop and deliver comprehensive submittal packages including drawings, datasheets, and compliance documentation. Provide technical clarification and support during submittal review and production phases. Assist Project Managers in addressing customer comments, change orders, and technical inquiries.
Qualifications:
Minimum of 2 + years of relatable job experience Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering (preferred) or related field Strong understanding of power distribution systems, Familiarity with NEC, UL (e.g., UL 891, UL 1558), and industry standards Ability to read and interpret single-line diagrams, schematics, and construction drawings, experience configuring engineered-to-order electrical equipment Familiarity with ERP/CRM or quoting systems (e.g., eBOSS or similar) High level of accuracy in configuration, pricing, and documentation Strong collaboration skills with internal teams and external customers Ability to handle multiple RFQs and deadlines in a fast-paced environment #IND101
