(UCI) is seeking an experienced Contract Smartsheet Solutions Engineer to design, build, improve, and maintain company-wide Smartsheet projects and workflows. This contractor will work with leadership and department stakeholders to evaluate existing processes, identify opportunities for improvement, and develop Smartsheet solutions that support operations, project tracking, safety, human resources, training, fleet, and other business functions. The ideal candidate is highly experienced with Smartsheet architecture, automation, dashboards, reporting, data management, and user permissions. This person must also be able to translate business needs into practical, user-friendly solutions that can be maintained by internal employees. Responsibilities Design and build new Smartsheet workspaces, sheets, reports, forms, dashboards, and workflows Review and improve existing Smartsheet projects and processes Develop automated alerts, reminders, approval workflows, and update requests Create dashboards that provide leadership with accurate, real-time information Build standardized templates for recurring company projects and processes Connect information across multiple sheets using formulas, cross-sheet references, reports, and automation Establish appropriate user permissions, sharing controls, and workspace organization Troubleshoot formulas, workflows, reports, dashboards, and data-quality issues Maintain and update existing Smartsheet solutions as company needs change Assist with data migration from spreadsheets or other systems into Smartsheet Create clear documentation, process maps, and user instructions Train designated employees on how to use and maintain completed solutions Recommend Smartsheet best practices related to scalability, consistency, security, and long-term maintenance Meet with department leaders to understand workflows and convert operational needs into effective Smartsheet systems Provide ongoing contract support for modifications, troubleshooting, and future development Required Qualifications Demonstrated professional experience building and maintaining advanced Smartsheet solutions Strong knowledge of Smartsheet sheets, reports, dashboards, forms, automation, formulas, and cross-sheet references Experience designing solutions for multiple departments or business functions Ability to analyze workflows and convert business requirements into functional systems Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills Experience managing user permissions and workspace organization Ability to create clear technical and end-user documentation Strong communication skills and the ability to work with both technical and nontechnical employees Ability to manage multiple projects, priorities, and deadlines independently High attention to detail and a commitment to data accuracy Preferred Qualifications Smartsheet certification or advanced Smartsheet training Experience with Control Center, Data Shuttle, Dynamic View, Bridge, WorkApps, Resource Management, or other premium Smartsheet applications Experience integrating Smartsheet with Microsoft 365, Power BI, SharePoint, or other business systems Experience supporting construction, telecommunications, utility, safety, human resources, fleet, or project-management operations Experience developing company-wide standards and governance for Smartsheet usage Previous contract or consulting experience Project Expectations The selected contractor may initially be responsible for: Reviewing UCI's current Smartsheet environment Identifying duplicate, outdated, or inefficient processes Prioritizing immediate and long-term development needs Creating a standardized structure for company Smartsheet projects Developing dashboards and reporting tools for leadership Documenting completed projects and training internal users Providing ongoing maintenance and technical support as needed About Underground Contractors, Inc.
