Posted Yesterday Embedded Systems Engineer II Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Embedded Systems Engineer II to design, develop, and validate firmware and embedded hardware for real-time products. The successful candidate will work with cross-functional teams to translate system requirements into robust embedded solutions, drive prototype bring-up and production handoff, and mentor junior engineers. Strong hands-on skills in C++, RTOS-based development, PCB understanding, and embedded communication protocols (I2C, SPI, CAN) are essential. Key Responsibilities Design, implement and maintain embedded firmware in C++ for microcontroller-based systems.

Develop and debug real-time software using RTOS (e.g., FreeRTOS, ThreadX) and ensure deterministic behavior.

Collaborate with hardware engineers to review PCB schematics/layouts and perform hardware-software integration and bring-up.

Implement and validate communication stacks and drivers for I2C, SPI, and CAN interfaces.

Perform system-level debugging using tools such as

JTAG/SWD

debuggers, oscilloscopes, and logic analyzers.

Write and maintain unit and integration tests, and automate test benches where appropriate.

Optimize code for performance, memory footprint, and power consumption on resource-constrained devices.

Document designs, maintain firmware version control, and participate in design reviews and code reviews.

Work with manufacturing and test engineering to support production test procedures and troubleshoot field issues.

Mentor junior engineers and contribute to continuous improvement of development processes and best practices. Qualifications Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related field (or equivalent experience).

3+ years of professional experience in embedded systems development (firmware and hardware integration).

Proficient in C/C++ for embedded systems.

Hands-on experience with RTOS concepts and implementation.

Practical experience with PCB fundamentals and hardware bring-up (schematic reading, signal integrity basics).

Working knowledge of I2C, SPI, and CAN protocols and experience implementing or debugging corresponding drivers.

Experience using debugging and validation tools: JTAG/SWD, oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and serial terminals.
