Local South Florida travel Position Overview We are seeking an experienced Building Automation Specialist to join our growing team in Miami, Florida. This position will be responsible for the installation, commissioning, troubleshooting, programming and service of Building Automation Systems (BAS) and HVAC control systems across commercial, institutional and mission-critical facilities. The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on experience with DDC controls, HVAC systems, BAS software and building controls networks , and be comfortable working independently in the field while communicating directly with customers, engineers, contractors and project managers. Key Responsibilities Install, configure, commission and service Building Automation Systems Troubleshoot BAS/DDC systems, controllers, sensors, actuators, valves, dampers and VFDs Diagnose HVAC and controls issues across AHUs, RTUs, VAVs, chillers, boilers and other mechanical equipment Perform point-to-point testing, startup and functional performance testing Read and interpret electrical drawings, control schematics and sequences of operation Program and modify BAS controllers and system graphics Configure alarms, trends, schedules and system setpoints Troubleshoot BAS communication networks and field-level devices Work with BACnet, Modbus, LonWorks and TCP/IP communication protocols Perform system upgrades, controller replacements and BAS migrations Support commissioning and retro-commissioning activities Identify opportunities to improve building performance and energy efficiency Provide technical support and training to customers Document service activities, programming changes and commissioning results Coordinate with project managers, engineers, electricians, HVAC technicians and subcontractors Provide technical support and mentorship to junior BAS technicians Preferred BAS Platforms Experience with one or more of the following: Tridium Niagara / Niagara N4 Johnson Controls Metasys Siemens Desigo / Apogee Automated Logic Honeywell Trane Tracer Distech Controls Schneider Electric EcoStruxure Delta Controls KMC Controls Qualifications 3-7+ years of experience in Building Automation, HVAC Controls, DDC or a related field Strong understanding of commercial HVAC systems Hands-on experience troubleshooting BAS/DDC systems Ability to read electrical and control schematics Experience with BACnet and/or Modbus Understanding of IP networking and BAS communications Strong electrical and controls troubleshooting skills Ability to work independently and manage multiple service/project requirements Strong customer-facing communication skills Valid driver's license and clean driving record Preferred Qualifications Niagara N4 certification Manufacturer-specific BAS certification HVAC or electrical qualification Experience with mission-critical facilities or data centers Experience with PLCs or industrial controls Experience with energy management systems Knowledge of cybersecurity and remote BAS connectivity Compensation & Benefits $95,000 - $115,000 base salary depending on experience Company vehicle or vehicle allowance Medical, dental and vision insurance 401(k) with company match Paid time off and holidays Company laptop, phone and tools Manufacturer training and certification opportunities Career progression into Lead Technician, Programmer, Project Manager or Controls Engineer roles Ideal Candidate The ideal candidate is a hands-on BAS professional who can walk onto a customer's site, diagnose a controls problem, understand the HVAC sequence, troubleshoot the network and make the required programming or hardware changes.
