40+ hours weekly, Monday through Friday A Superior Mechanical is seeking an experienced Building Automation Systems and Refrigeration Specialist to diagnose, service, and optimize commercial HVAC, refrigeration, chiller, and BAS control systems throughout the Panama City Beach area. This role combines commercial chiller expertise with BAS controls experience to service and optimize large HVAC systems while maintaining reliable BACnet MS/TP and BACnet/IP communication and overall system performance. Benefits Package 401K retirement program with 4% company match 50% Company-Provided Health Insurance 50% Company-Provided Vision and Dental Insurance Take-home company vehicle and fuel card Company-provided phone, tablet, and uniforms Tool assistance program 7 paid holidays yearly Up to 3 weeks of paid vacation, based on tenure and experience Paid technical training and opportunities for advancement Supportive team environment Key Responsibilities Diagnose, repair, maintain, and commission commercial chillers and refrigeration systems Service air-cooled and water-cooled equipment, including centrifugal, screw, and scroll chillers Troubleshoot equipment from manufacturers such as Trane, York, Carrier, and Daikin Maintain supporting plant equipment, including: Cooling towers Pumps and heat exchangers Chilled and condenser water systems Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs) Perform refrigerant recovery, evacuation, charging, and leak detection in accordance with EPA requirements Diagnose refrigeration performance, electrical, mechanical, and water-flow problems Configure and troubleshoot Building Automation Systems (BAS/DDC) Commission and diagnose BACnet MS/TP and BACnet/IP communication networks Verify BACnet addressing, device communication, network settings, and termination Configure and verify BAS points, alarms, trends, sensors, and control parameters Troubleshoot communication failures and network-related equipment issues Test and optimize chiller staging, lead/lag sequences, temperature resets, and central plant operation Work with platforms such as Niagara N4, Metasys, WebCTRL, and Distech EC-Net Participate in a rotating emergency on-call schedule Required Qualifications Minimum 5 years of commercial HVAC/R experience At least 2 years of BAS/DDC controls experience Strong hands-on experience servicing large-tonnage chillers and commercial refrigeration equipment Working knowledge of BACnet MS/TP and BACnet/IP EPA Section 608 Universal Certification Ability to diagnose mechanical, electrical, refrigeration, and controls-related problems Ability to understand electrical schematics, mechanical drawings, P&IDs, ladder diagrams, and control sequences Experience configuring and troubleshooting VFDs Comfortable using laptops, digital diagnostic equipment, meters, and controls software Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and safely work on rooftops, ladders, aerial lifts, and in mechanical equipment rooms Desired Qualifications Journeyman or Master HVAC/Mechanical License Factory training or certifications from Trane, York/JCI, Carrier, or Daikin Tridium Niagara 4 (N4) Technical Certification Familiarity with Modbus, LonWorks, or Johnson Controls N2 Apply Today If you have a strong background in commercial refrigeration, chillers, and building automation systems and enjoy solving complex HVAC and controls problems, we want to hear from you.
