Job Description

About us We build connected medical hardware and the software that surrounds it. We also deliver health coaching and therapy by phone and video, both supported by software platforms we maintain in house. About the role This is a junior, hands-on role that sits across three areas: software development, IT services, and hardware development, along with testing across all three. You'll support a small senior team by taking on the building-block work in each area. You won't be siloed. In a given week you might prepare a laptop for a new employee, solder and rework a test fixture, flash firmware onto several boards and observe what they say over a serial console, improve a frontend view for a client-facing web portal, and systematically test a new internal tool. If you like the idea of being the person who can do a bit of all of it, this is a good fit. What you'll do Fabricate, assemble, repair and maintain hardware: production devices, test jigs and fixtures, and one-off bench hardware Flash and configure circuit boards using our desktop utilities and a serial terminal, then confirm the device came up correctly and troubleshoot it when it didn't Contribute to frontend development on internal and customer-facing tools, with attention to UI/UX Design and run test procedures for hardware and software our engineers produce, including maintaining the jigs and writing the scripts that make the testing repeatable Handle IT and infrastructure tasks: server and network setup, scheduled jobs, integrations between platforms, and general "make this work" problems Document the tools, fixtures and procedures you create so others can use them What we're looking for Frontend development experience (HTML/CSS/JavaScript and a modern framework), with an eye for usable interfaces Basic soldering skills: through-hole and ideally some surface-mount rework Comfort at a command line and with hands-on device work: connecting a board over USB, running a desktop flashing utility, typing commands into a terminal and reading back what the device says A track record of using AI tools to work through real technical problems involving code, configuration, and procedures. Tell us about something you actually got working this way, whether it's a router or server you set up, a scheduling problem you solved, or an integration you stitched together. Working familiarity with
Linux:
comfortable in a shell, navigating the filesystem, installing packages, starting and stopping services, connecting to a remote machine over SSH and reading logs to figure out what went wrong The ability to pick up an unfamiliar tool or system and get somewhere with it without being walked through every step Nice to have Experience in a healthcare or medical device environment (IT, software development, QA, or regulatory-adjacent work) Hands-on experience flashing, programming or debugging embedded devices, or working with bench equipment like a multimeter or oscilloscope Exposure to Python, Git, Docker, Flutter, Angular Test automation or QA experience A note on experience We've listed a lot above, and we don't expect a junior candidate to have all of it. If you're light on several of these but you have a real knack for figuring things out (learning the tool, solving the problem, moving on) we want to hear from you. Apply anyway and tell us what you've taught yourself. Where this goes We're a small technical team, and right now we all cover more than one area. You'd start by taking some of that workload off each of us across software development, IT services and hardware development. As the company grows, we expect those areas to need people dedicated to them rather than shared, and we'd rather grow someone into that than hire in over them. We can't promise a specific path this early, but if you find an area you want to go deep on, there's room to make it yours.
